    Ruger LCR rattle?

I have a friend that just bought a Ruger LCR in .38 Spl. It sounds like there is something lose in the rear of the frame, like some tiny piece of metal rattling around somewhere around the hammer. Is this normal?

That would make sense with where the sound is coming from. This is just the first LCR I have held, and it seemed odd a new gun would rattle, but if its normal, then it is normal. Thank you.

My LCR does the same thing. I load it and pull the trigger and it goes bump so I'm not to worried about it.

Sometimes when I shake my Ruger LCR revolver, I hear a slight rattle; is that normal?
Like all newly manufactured Ruger revolvers, your LCR has a transfer bar safety system as part of the fire control mechanism. As a result, a hammer blow can be transmitted to the firing pin only when the trigger is pulled all the way to the rear. This is a positive internal safety feature. By design, the transfer bar is allowed some movement within the fire control mechanism so that trigger pull is not affected. Due to this necessary "play" in the transfer bar, a shooter will sometimes hear the transfer bar "rattle" when the revolver is shaken. This rattle caused by the play in the transfer bar is completely normal in the LCR.

I have a Ruger LCR as do three people I work with. All four have the same rattle. One person swore their LCR did not rattle after hearing mine - that is until she took hers out of her car and turning it over produced the exact same sound.

Do the .357 LCRs have the rattle as well?

Quit shaking it; the rattle will stop.

YES, .357 LCRs are just as safe as .38 LCRs.

Folks, ALL Ruger revolvers made since 1973 have the transfer bar system!
