Dating a G27?

Was at the gunshop this morning, saw a rather neglected looking used GLOCK 27 in the corner of the display case, so I had them pull it out for me to look over.

Bought it.

Brought it home. It was rather dirty, and someone had gone a little crazy with skateboard tape. Took off the excess tape, gave her a good washing down with CLP, and now she is almost as shiny as a new model. There is a bit of internal wear, nothing outlandish at all.

Came with 3 mags, semi bright night sights. Haven't shot it yet, but the trigger is rather stiff compared to my other stock GLOCKS. Modified, perhaps??

Kind of curious to how old this GLOCK is..........EVN prefix serial #. US at the end. Anybody tell me the approx. date of manufacture?

Looks like sometime in 2002. You may need to check with Glock about having your frame replaced because your prefix is in the range of recalled frames.

Whoa. Not good. Didn't even consider that. Why was there a recall? Frame looks excellent..........

Let me get the battery in my camera charged up first!!

My 23 was a 2000 vintage witha DLU so 2002 seems about right for yours.

Some in that range developed cracks in the frame and slide rails breaking off. Glock will replace the frame if it is, no worries.

If they replace rhe frame, does it have to be sent back via FFL?

EVN= approximately January 2002. There was a frame recall for this and several other 'E' prefix Glocks. The recall also lists the LCI (loaded chamber indicator). This is the 2.5 generation Glock pistol. I have a G23 frame that was replaced ser# ELF...US. My G27 was made prior to yours as the ser# is DSD...US.
If a recalled frame by serial number prefix has already been replaced, there will be a numeral 1 before the alpha numeric serial number.

From the title of the thread I thought the OP was going to ask if it was proper for a G27 to date something of another breed, like maybe a Smith & Wesson...

My S# is WTD$$$. No US at the end.

What does that mean, if anything.

No 'US' means it was born here, and not imported.
