Anyone carry a taurus PT745?
I'm looking at this pistol for EDC/truck carry because of price.
I have had the PT111 but now I love the .45 cartridge. any tips
on this gun appreciated,Thaanks for all replies! I carry a kimber
now but if it was stolen out of my truck i would be out alot more cash,
so that's my reason for possibly trying the taurus.

Although I own three Tauruses (Tauri?), I'd say skip the 745 and get a Glock or a Smith M&P in .45, even a used one. A smaller investment, greater reliability, and no one I know would cry over a lost plastic gun... it ain't an heirloom.

Good advice. That reliability thing can loom large in self defense and I have recently lost all confidence in Taurus as I have had 2 Taurus revolvers go belly-up this year.

I had a 745 that I was happy with other then Taurus had to keep replacing one of the mags. Other then that it was a good pistol. Better trigger then the Glock 30.

Had mine for two years and love it. It eats what I feed it and goes bang when I want it to.
I have no qualms about carrying this.
My son just got a Taurus 24/7 in 45 and he loves the feel. We went to the range last Thursday and he loves it.
He just got back from basic training at Ft Benning so he has shot some awesome weapons lately.

Thanks all I also have looked at the 24/7's in 45. I'm bidding on a few on gunbroker this week.
I paid too much for my kimber to leave it in my truck at anytime so a taurus would be perfect even used.

My PT745 is an alternate carry for me, after my PPS. It's just as comfortable to carry. I got it after shooting a friends PT111, which I really liked. And since I was looking for a .45 I decided on the PT745. Feels the same and shoots the same with a little more recoil (ok, more than a little). I also liked that it was $200 less than a Glock 36. As of now it has about 300 rounds thru it with zero issues. I like shooting the Fiochhi 200 gr JHP ammo, a little less recoil than 230 gr FMJ. As has already been said, it shoots whatever I put in it. Disclaimer - just mho, your experience may be different.

How do you like your PPS Mr. Jones? Conceal well and carry comfortable?
I have looked at them in a glance but never really picked one up.

I have a PT745 and it functions fine. However I have had a dickens of a time with the sights. If you read up on the millennium pro guns you will find a lot of people are not happy with the sights. Mine shot way low. I am on my third set of sights and still don't have a 6'oclock hold. But I do finally have a sight where I can hit what I point at if I cover the target with the front sight. If I had to do it again I would have gone with a different gun. FWIW.

Many guns are set up with a sight picture such as that.

Yeah I am old school and prefer the old 6'oclock hold. I understand the idea behind the heine figure 8 sights but the problem many have is that the sights that come stock are still shooting low even using this different sight picture.

pt745 is what i carry. But i put about 500 rounds down range before i did just because of taurus's rep. But havent had one jam due to the gun. The only jam i had was due to cheap Wolf ammo.
