I picked up a Glock once.... I immediately put it back down.... I've been clean ever since.
There is something about firing 4,200 thirty millimeter rounds/min that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

It's ok, We all make mistakes. I'm sure the Glock will suffice until you can get a real gun. JUST KIDDING. Although I am loyal to 1911, I hear Glock's are very good pistols. People loyal to Clock swear by them. They are just not my taste.

The important thing is, you are protected and are happy. Nothing else should matter.

We all have those sporadic, intermittent, days when we're really not thinking correctly or making the wisest of choices or decisions.

I actually own a Glock. Just one. A Glock 36. I have even been known to carry it once in a while. Usually every total eclipse of the Sun <~~~ ...I carry it.
Truthfully it has always functioned flawlessly & I never had any problems with it.
I like shooting 1911s more though so I tend to stick with the firearm that I am most intimately familiar with.

So that should get me off the hook.

I just got back from shooting it for the first time today. I put 200 rounds of 165gr WWB at 5, 7, and 10 yards. While im still far from grouping the way I do with my BHP, I was VERY impressed with how well I shot that goofy trigger (still getting used to it). Less recoil than I was expecting and none of the ".40 flip" that I had experienced with other .40S&W pistols (Beretta, Sig). Maybe the changes to the recoil spring actually helped?

Once I got the trigger reset figured out I could empty a mag as quickly as possible into a pie plate at 10 yards. Shooting for accuracy I couldnt do better than about a 3" group with 5 shots.

Re-aquiring the sights post recoil was *nearly* as fast as my full size BHP. I was quite surprised.

But, for the bad news... The gun did suffer a failure (last round nosedived into the feed ramp). Only one, but it still disappointed me as I have put more than 4,000 trouble free rounds through the BHP. I am still going to put it on my ccw tomorrow, but it will need to see at least 500 glitch free rounds before I carry it.

My first handgun was/is the Glock 23, my everyday carry, I also 'felt the need' and bought a Colt Defender about 9 months later. Yea, ugly, plastic, but goes 'BANG' everytime you pull the trigger.
My wife's first gun is the Glock 19, settled on it after shooting about 7 different 9mm guns at the local gun range.
As far as reloading, I have just started into this part of the 'hobby'. All I can say is that I have been warned more than once on more than one different forum to STAY AWAY from reloading .40 S&W until you have more that 2-3 thousand rounds of .45 and/or 9mm under your belt with no issues. Seems as if the .40 is a bit finicky and a higher pressure load that needs to be done right to prevent any issues.
    Welcome to the Glock club.

No getting off the hook from me! I love my 1911's too! I would have to admit that I would be disappointed if I went to get a 1911 and ended up with a Glock. It's like going to a dance to meet Kim Kardashian and Leaving with Oprah Winfrey. All kidding aside, enjoy your Glock it will give you years of service!

BTW this is not meant as a racist comment, you can insert Halle Berry for Kim if you like...

One plus is that you don't need a quart of oil to run a Glock like you do with a 1911.
