Smith and Wesson and Ruger would be on the top of my list.

New model gun I would choose a 686 smith. Used gun a Model 19/66 would be my choice... second would be a Colt Diamondback.

Korht is very exotic, but for what you are asking Smith and wesson is the best bet, IMO.

In the context of conceal carry, I like the S&W 640 or the Ruger SP101. Both are amendable to custom appointments to your hearts (or wallets) content.

Korth if you want to be silly and have the dough (why not if you do!). Other then that I like S&W as they are a step above Ruger in fit and finish.

Any "pre-lock" Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum revolver is very nice. My favorite brand.

Any Colt .357 Magnum made before the advent of the Mark III action which came out in 1969, Python excepted. Pythons always have been made to Colt's older action design no matter when they were manufactured. Best kept secret about Colt .357s: The 3 5 7 (yes, that was the name of the model) and the older pre-'69 Troopers use the same basic action as the Python and may be just as smooth while costing considerably less.

Many are now discontinued though they are better than the new stuff. Great examples of these revolvers are available used. Some of the finest Smith & Wessons were discontinued only because people wanted ever smaller revolvers. The Colts were expensive to produce.

Try any of these and you will have a finely crafted revolver that will give a lifetime of good service. Keep it cleaned and lubed and it will take care of you from now on.
