Top Break .22 Magnum
Here is an interesting concept by North American Arms. Its a top break .22 Magnum. While I am not a fan of .22's for self defense, this little revolver is definitely better than throwing rocks.
If its built like the NAA .22's it ought to be a keeper.
Here's the article on it.

Reload capability is much quicker than the standard .22's.

I am interested. I have always had the NAA on my list, just never gotten around to getting one. Might need one of these instead.

So what? It is still only a 5 shot single action rimfire revolver, and virtually impossible to fire accurately, due to the poor sights and even worse grip.
And shooting a 22 mag out of a 1 1/8 inch barrel is absolutely insane. It makes no sense whatsoever, unless what you want is a big fireball muzzle flash to scare folks with.
Have you looked at the velocity tables on their website and seen how absolutely appalling the ballistics of this gun are??
Winchester Super X 40 gr JHP: 879 fps, 69 ft/lbs energy
Remington 40 gr JHP: 802 fps, 57 ft/lbs energy
CCI Maxi Mag 40 gr JHP: 788 fps, 55 ft/lbs energy
These numbers are truly pathetic. Even a 32 Auto pistol can generate over 120 ft/lbs of energy.
Some people are proud to carry this pistol, however:

I suppose if someone gave me one, I'd be tickled pink, and thank them profusely. Then, I'd stick it in the back of the safe and forget it.
Buy one? Never.

An interesting conversation piece, perhaps a novelty at the range.
But a serious self defense tool? Not me.

SD, no. Carrying this for SD is worse than a sharp stick or throwing big rocks, however, I do think it looks cool and would be fun to have and shoot but on a budget (as a family man) my guns have to fill a role. I don't collect for the sake of collecting and don't buy guns for pure fun. Admittedly I might stretch how I rationalize a bit
but I don't think I'll ever end up with one of these but I do see it as an improvement over their current models.

I think i would still rather have a 22 long rifle version of that break top.. and just use it as a plinker and conversation piece. It would be cheap to shoot, and kind of cool to have..

I want one, but sadly no funds. I am trying to get the funds for a Black Widow. Honestly it's a niche piece, but its more then a sharp stick or a rock....unless your some kind of kung fu master.
I know not what this "overkill" means.

I like it. Not everything has to be about self defense. Some guns are just for plain FUN and this one looks like it ought to be.
Somebody buy one and do a review.

The other version of the NAA 22 Mag is an interesting gun. It was kind of fun to shoot at the range as a novelty, and I'm sure this one will be as well.
I like these, but not willing to put out bucks for an SAO revolver in this category. OTOH, you can't beat the ability to conceal one of these.
For reasons totally irrational, I like the 22 Magnum. It just has never been high on my what to do with my money list.

Naa just makes me wonder. All the time and money they must have invested in that thing. Why did they not make it a little bigger say 32NAA cal. or 380. It may hurt your hand to shoot but, a last resort hide out, #3 stick it in the face, get off me Gun.
