If you're use to carrying a P95, then you should easily be able to switch to a P90 or P94. Same size, just may end up being heavier. I say if you want bigger, go for it. If you're going to consider the M&P, I would also look seriously at the Glock 23 (40) and the Glock 30 and 36 (45).
IMO........and include the previous post......(without me hinting at Glock).........if you are used to carrying the Ruger P series for CC, then stick with it. My thoughts? Go with what's right for you and think about ammo costs as well. I'm a fan of the Ruger P series pistols actually. Keep it simple for you.
i have shot the glock 23 it seems like a prety well made gun but I do my best to buy from the good old USA
I would submit the following from Gabe Suarez, think of him what you want.
This makes sense.
I thought this was an article originally, but I can't find it anywhere.
this is a link to another site that has the jist of the article.
I have it saved on my com. but ????
GABE'S CALIBER CHOICE
I get asked what I carry alot. Recently we have gotten into quite a few discussions about my choice of calibers as well as why. Specially when they hear that it is a 9mm. So here goes --
1). 9mm holds more ammo and more ammo is a definite asset in a gunfight. I had a student that was attacked by three guys and his 1911 barely had enough. Another bad guy and he would have been screwed.
2). With modern ammo there is virtually no difference in performance in the typical CCW loads (9mm, 40, 45).
3). Ammo commonality and magazine commonality are a big issue. If you carry a 50 Auto +P+ and your dainty wife carries a mere 9mm you cannot support each other in the way that would be best.
4). Anyone who believes in the reliability of One Shot Stops with a pistol is an idiot that has never seen any action outside his daydreams.
Look gents, if it makes you feel better to carry a 45, do it. If you think that extra millimeter of size will help, then carry a 45. If you think you'd feel just fine at Mumbai with your 1911/45, then cool. Drive on. Its not my business to convice you otherwise.
Me? I have seen lots of people shot to be able to say this.
ALL HANDGUN CALIBERS ARE UNPREDICTABLE.

I humbly suggest you look at the Ruger SR40.
I favor more holes over more mm's.
Maybe slight but I haven't seen any proof of any real significant advantage. I doubt there is until you step up to a whole other power level. I'm not trying to talk you out of it, I like them all. Keep your 9mm and buy another. There is something special to loading up a favorite shooter with those fat, stubby .45 rounds, wether there is any real advantage or not.
That same thought is what got me to my LGS to pick up my new G21. But by no means will my G26 be going anywhere!
O belive me i dont think i will ever give up on the p95
