This is a discussion on WSJ article on Glock and Arizona within the Defensive Carry Guns forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...NewsCollection...
I have no idea what they are really trying to convey in this story. Glocks are popular in the LEO and public because they have a reputation for reliability.
Know Guns, Know Safety, Know Peace.
No Guns, No Safety, No Peace.
Guns are like sex and air...its no big deal until YOU can't get any.
I was wondering how long it would be before media outlets started touting "its the gun's fault." Ugh.
make sure you vote in the poll on that page. We're losing badly
I think the article is a response to certain media demonizing Glock, and it's hi-cap mags.
Surprisingly, I didn't get a "slant" from this article at all. I found it to be straight forward, direct, & factual about Glocks. I didn't get a "it's the guns fault" take on this article, but rather more of a fact sheet of product history, what it is, who uses it, why they use, etc. JMO
Asked by a CNN reporter "What do you feel when you shoot a terrorist"?, the Marine sniper simply shrugged & replied "recoil".
Now more than ever, we are at war on our home soil ... WAKE UP & arm our troops when they are on home soil!
I'm not sure how you're reading the question. If you take it for the exact context and question that is written, then yes, it should be harder for the mentally ill to buy weapons.
To me, we all win if guns are kept away from people who cannot handle them.
That said, I thought that this guy bought his gun by going through all the required channels.
Edit:
I just searched and found out that there were some (obvious) mental issues for him. I don't know what could be done to prevent this outcome. I hate to even think about agreeing that something needs to change if he could slip through the system and get the gun(s) "legally." Here is part of a Newsweek headline that confirms what I have been saying for some time now...
"Cut off from the world by his iPhone earbuds and hoodie, neighbors and classmates say alleged murderer Jared Lee Loughner was a deeply disturbed young man."
I always say to my wife when I see one of these types, "look, there's a hood-lum". Referencing the hoodie. Most of the young guys and girls that I know are always lost in their electronics, barely grunting and twitching when talked to by an adult. And almost never make eye contact. This is not my kid, I don't have one, just nieces and nephews and their friends. I always ask them why they can't turn off those "things" for just a few minutes and "talk" to a real person, face to face. A blank stare usually follows.

I quote from the article...
"Glocks are Compact, Light, and Deadly"
Yep, they are, and that's why I carry one.![]()
"That I cannot do."
"Give this to, uh, Clemenza. I want reliable people, people who aren't going to be carried away. After all we're not murderers in spite of what this undertaker thinks."

I was on a blog (mostly anti 2A folks on it) today and a woman linked to a story showing that Glock sales have skyrocketed since Saturday. She never indicated the point she was trying to make, but I found it interesting none the less.
