In the photos here, the Kahr PM9 looks to be a tad larger and thicker, or it could just be the rounded edges of the Kimber Solo. God Bless

The Kahr PM9 is actually a PM40 if you read the slide.

    +1 I like it!

I too was thinking about the LC9 until I saw this posted.... I think it looks like it could be a winner, as long as its performance is up to par. I'd pick it over both the Kahr and the LC9 provided it runs like it should.

Let's not forget the sig p290. I don't have any solid information but my guess would be that it comes out at a lower price point and has a better trigger. I'm going to bookmark this thread so I can come back later to see if I'm right :) MSRP on the Solo is 725.00 so I'm guessing street cost will be around 650.00. I'm thinking the sig p290 is going to come in in the 500-550.00 neighborhood.

For the record, I'd take the Sig over the Kimber, but mainly because I think Sigs are better made firearms. I do like the ergonomics of the Kimber, but again, I think Sig takes the lead in quality control, that's just my limited opinion with the three Sigs vs one Kimber that I've purchased.

    http://www.kimberamerica.com/solo

    Dimensions...
    Height: 3.9"
    Length: 5.5"
    Width: 1.2"
    Weight: 17oz w/ empty mag

On the facebook pictures I don't know why they decided to line it up next to a Kahr PM40 rather than a Kahr PM9...?

    - Maybe it's the only Kahr they had on hand. The Solo looks very interesting and I would love to see some more reports on it. I probably won't get one since I already have a PM9 and I'm not a fan of safeties. Now where's Glock with their single stack?

    - What's really odd to me is that the Kahr looks larger in the pictures despite having similar dimensions.

    Kahr PM9
    Length O/A: 5.3"
    Height: 4.0"
    Slide Width: .90"
Weight: Pistol 14 ounces, Magazine 1.9 ounces

    Kahr PM40
    Length O/A: 5.35"
    Height: 4.0"
    Slide Width: .94"
Weight: Pistol 15.8 ounces, Magazine 1.9 ounces

That really through me off, too, ESP since they're saying the Solo is 1.2" - I'm guessing that 1.2" "overall width", while Kahr's specifcations are "slide width." That still shouldn't make the Kahr look THAT much wider in the pictures though.

maybe the Kimber 1.2" is measured from outside edge to outside edge of the ambi-safety?

surely it isn't as wide as a Sig P239?

Do I understand correctly that this is a single action weapon? That would explain the manual safety.

This looks better than the LC9, IMO.

I'm a little skeptical of the manual safety, but if it shoots like a SAO, then I can deal with that.

But neither Ruger, Sig or Kimber have really pulled out anything spectacular that will pull me away from my S&W 442-1.

I stopped by my LGS last night and they had the Solo Carry for display purposes. They won't have them for sale until April, but they set their price at $599.

It's a sweet little gun, and the trigger is rather smooth for such a small gun.

The manual safety engages with the typical 'snik' and 'snak' of a 1911 and is in an intuitive position for your thumb to disengage.

I took some pictures last night, one of the Solo Carry compared to the Kahr PM9, and the interesting barrel of the Solo Carry. Enjoy!
