"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both."
I was excited until I saw the width. Why in the world would a single stack 9mm be THICKER than the Glock 36 .45ACP? Looking at pics I cannot tell where they measured from. Thinner than I thought.
Bersa BP9cc vs. LC9 vs Kimber Solo 2011 will be a fight for my mouse-9 dollars =)
I went 0 to 100 to 0 on this gun. I see Kimber is calling for a 24 round break in. Why? So I can be their QC department? Ford and Chevy pay a tech to test every new car before it sells, and I've watched the guys at KCMO Harley plant ride every new bike on a treadmill before it ships. It's a pure disappointment Kimber won't spend the five bucks, and time to test fire a $750 gun before shipping.
I'm not a lawyer or a LEO, just a pantload with a computer.
That being said I would prefer not to buy a Kimber due to their horrendous CS, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on the Solo Carry. If they want their first foray into something other than the 1911 pattern to sell with any volume then it MUST run flawlessly, and that should be motivation enough for Kimber.
gotta say I kinda like it!!!
To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women
Looks very enticing! I have learned the hard way though to wait until a new pistol has been out in the market for a year to work out all of the bugs. Having said that, I could see this one in my collection in 2012.
God bless our troops!
Does it require 500 rounds and a trip back to Kimber to be broken in....like my other two Kimber's have?
It looks great. I love the melt job. I don't mind the safety. The slide stop looks very ergonomic.
I do have to say though that on my PM9 I feel the checkering is really helpful given the small grip height, and would wonder about it's absence. I'd have to put a little bicycle inner tube on it, which I like less.
And, that making a reliable 9mm that small can be tricky. As Kahr well knows.

wow, i really like this. i want a metal gun...and i kinda like this....indeed this is agood year to be a gun buyer, and a bad year cuz we'll be broke...
Do you guys think you could really pocket carry? It just a bit smaller than my Kimber UC. But maybe the pics are deceiving. I really like IWB carry for that size of gun though. Any of you tried out SHTF Gear holsters? I just ordered one based on a recommendation from a friend. I did notice that they offered a holster for the Kimber Solo.
I handled one at the SHOT show. The safety was difficult for me to manipulate... and honest to god it felt like a DAO trigger to me.
Based on my experience, I would have carried it with the safety off.
