NEW Ruger LC9 Pistol Comming FEB 2011

Check out the new Ruger LC9 being introduced and going on sale in February.

I don't know how to attach Ruger's web site to this posting, so if someone want's to in a response that would be great.

    Anyway, it does show promise!

I daily carry the LCP and really love it but wouldn't mind carrying a 9mm instead.

Anyone else have some input on this new gun?

    Link to Ruger's LC9 page

And yes, I plan on getting one. Nice nich between the LCP and the larger SR9 I think it will be a well received offering from Ruger.

Yesterday I had a new Kimber Solo demo in my hands, but there wasn't an LC9 demo available (at least not at the shop I was at).

I handled the solo today. Nice feel to it. Looks like a Kimber will be going on the list.

I am going to the gun show this Saturday, hope to find one there just to handle it, along with the new Kimber.

Wow, did Ruger copy ANOTHER Keltec (Pf9/p11),...wonder if they'll have to recall these too

The LC9 is on my "to get" list. I like the look of it and I am a Ruger fan.

    The Kimber Solo is comparable.
    • Barrel Length = Solo at 2.7 compared to Ruger 3.12
    • Overall Length = Solo at 5.5 compared to Ruger 6
    • Width = Ruger at .9 compared to Solo 1.2 (.02 wider then Glock 19)
    • Weight Tie at Solo 17 Ruger 17.1
    • Capacity = Ruger = 7 +1 Solo 6 (+1?)
    • Price = Ruger MSRP $443 Solo $725
    • Looks (IMO) Solo – All metal gun with 1911 ergonomics
    • Assumed Reliability (IMO) = Ruger - Due to history with DAO guns.

IMO The price and Rugers DAO experience makes the difference.

I doubt the width of the Glock 19 is thinner than either the Kimber Solo or this Ruger. I will check and post. This little Ruger looks like the ticket to me. Especially for the price.

Yeah, checked that GLOCK 19 spec... it is 1.8 inches...The Ruger you were right is only .9 inches...pretty darn thin when you consider the LCR Ruger pocket .380 is .82....A nine shot 9mm over a 7 shot .380acp at those small convienant sizes? I'll take that any day.

    Same here.
I'm interested in it but not really fond of the thumb safety on it......

    - Based on the comparison pictures of the Solo next to a PM40, the slide width looks to be around 0.90". I think that Kimber is adding the width of the ambidextrous safety when it lists 1.2" for width.
