    M&P... The Pros Know

I just had to do it... I added a new M&P 40 Pro Series to my M&P stable, and all I can say is Wow!

My new M&P was purchased from a local gun dealer at a buy me now price of $550. I took it to the range after work, and found that it shoots quite a bit better than my older M&P 40 full-size. The group below shows 15 rounds in a less than 2" target area at 20-yards, and that was in sub freezing temps while wearing gloves.

Although the trigger is considerably better than that found on a standard M&P, I will still be upgrading it with an Apex Tactical Hard Sear. I have grown accustomed to the Apex enhanced trigger feel, and I just don't want to have different triggers on my M&P's.

If you haven't checked out an M&P Pro Series before, I would HIGHLY recommend that you take one for a spin... It's not your father's M&P.

    M&P 40 Pro Series Specs:
    • Caliber: .40 S&W
    • Capacity: 15+1 Rounds
    • Barrel: 4.25" Match Grade
    • Sights: Low Profile Tritium Night Sight
    • Trigger Pull: 4 to 5.5 lbs.
    • Finish: Black Melonite on Stainless
    • Assembly: S&W Performance Center Division

My father literally has an M&P; what's the difference between a normal M&P and the Pro Series?

At any rate that is one nice looking pistol!

The M&P Pro Series differ from the standard M&P's in the following ways...

    • Performance Center Sear, which greatly improves the standard M&P trigger
    • Match Grade Barrel upgrade
    • Low profile Tritium Night Sights on the 4.24" Pro and Fiber Optic/Adjustable Target Sights on the 5" Pro

I own 5 M&P's and the Pro versions really do feel and shoot better than the standard versions.

    My M&P Stable:

    M&P40 FS
    M&P357 FS
    M&P9c
    M&P9 Pro Series (5")
    M&P40 Pro Series (4.25")

    I got one a dem
It's a sweet pistol. After getting it I traded in my Stoeger Cougar .40 on the M&P9c. I knew I wouldn't be carrying or shooting that Stoeger again after getting that S&W Pro Series.

Here is what professional shooting trainer Todd Green did a couple of years ago with his full size M&P at 25 yards using Federal's 124 gr 9mm +P HST law enforcement load:

Have been considering the Apex Tactical Hard Sear for my M&P. How much do they cost?

Todd Green is my hero. He does a trick for his students where he hits steel plate targets at 75-yards... With a Ruger LCP!

I just bought a new M&P .45 Mid-size (not Pro), and I find it hard to understand all the complaints I hear about the trigger. Mine is smooth and light.

I have a M&P9c, brother has one as well, and his son has a FS .40 and , maybe were stupid, being raised around firearms and shooting,
but I don't know what all the fuss is about the triggers.
Now I have a K-Tec P11, you want to talk about an interesting trigger.?

I've had an M&P 9 for about two years now. It's a very fine handgun by any measure.

    Congratulations OP!

It's funny that you guys bring up the trigger because I was just thinking this to myself yesterday. I have three M&P's in my stable and one of them has the Apex and the other two do not. Don't get me wrong the Apex makes it lighter, but I have to say the other factory triggers are pretty nice after break in.

I really like these firearms, they are just hard to beat.

Thanks OneShot.. Amen, My trigger is broken in and I compared it to a Glock the other day, guess what everyone needs to relax, because the "mushiness" and travel distance IS THE SAME ON BOTH. Mine also has a nice crisp break with over 2500 rounds through it.

I want a M&P9 Pro Series for competition.
