    New Gun 44 Magnum

I bought another revolver off of a fella yesterday, a SA .44 Magnum 6" barrel Stainless Steel. It's not very practical, but I did manage to carry it IWB all day yesterday after I bought it. I've lost 28 pounds recently, so stuff seems to be fitting IWB a lot easier (including me).

Like I said, not practical, but I'm a sucker for a revolver and I got a GREAT deal on it. I couldn't buy anything in any of my local gun shops for this price, so I figured I'd have some fun with it, maybe use it for HD, and figure I couldn't lose any money on it and likely could come out ahead if I sold it.

I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but I did pick up 100 range loads and a box of 20 Hornady 300 grain JHPs. Man, 44 Magnum dwarfs all of my other rounds when comparing them side-by-side. I'm sure it will kick like a mule...but I'm a glutton for punishment and like recoil. The more the merrier.

It was imported by "My Hunter Inc." in California, but it was made in West Germany and says "Western Six-Shooter Model". Anyway, here it is...a behemoth.

Practical probably not. Fun, oh heck yeah! I still think my Redhawk is my favorite gun to shoot. Something about the 44 that you just don't outgrow.

The only .44M I've shot was the Blackhawk and it was more than what I was comfortable with. I opted for its slightly smaller brother, the .41 Mag. Loved that round. If you can keep your hand bones intact shooting the .44, it's a fun round to punch holes in some amazing things!

Sweet looking hand cannon, if 44 Mag loads are a bit much at first try some 44 Spec loads instead.

Nothing will put a smile on your face like shooting a 44 mag for an afternoon. I tend to load down a bit for just plinking, but when I put the full house loads in, man what a feeling. And yea it is nice to see 20lb propane bottles walk around when they are shot.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

    It's a big 'un.

Hurry back with a report, especially of those 300 grain loads.

The .44 Magnum is a potent round but is always appropriate when correctly applied. I like it.

I haven't cleaned it up yet, but I'm planning on taking it out shooting soon and then giving it a thorough once over inside and out. For the price, I couldn't possibly say no. I kind of like recoil, so why not get something that kicks like a mule. I'll give a range report as soon as I get it out. As much as I love revolvers, I just had to have a big honkin' single action 44 magnum. Glad I got one for a steal.

Well at least you know to carry on those days that you are wondering "is this enough gun". How is the trigger?
