I do have pachmyrs on a charter arms 38 I have but prefer wood for this gun.
For a SD revolver I use the Hogue rubber grip. I have carried my 649 for about 2 years now and I feel it is the very best pocket gun that I have ever carried. I carry mine in a Mika pocket holster.

Here are the pics I promised.
640 with Pachmyars
642 with Hogues
ETA - yes I know that the 640 is loaded. It is my carry gun today and I just took it off to shoot the pics then reholstered.

very nice ksholder! Thanks for the pics. I just went to Hogue...maybe they discontinued that grip?? Didn't see it pictured only black rubber or pink. Ahhhhh...no pink grips for me. LOL
I like the idea of being able to exchange a grip from Hogue. I think I'll give em a ring and toss some ideas around. All these grips look great but I think the ability to try / exchange will make the Hogue grip worth the extra few bucks. :)
Thanks again everyone!
Especially for pocket carry, I highly recommend smooth. I second everything pogo2 had to say.
This was a really tough choice and I certainly want to thank everyone for their input. When I balanced all the variables...(size, smooth vs checkered, grip material type, ability to exchange the product etc) ....all balanced with the need (want LOL) to range shoot as well as CC I chose......
(drum roll please....)
Hogue round butt three finger groove checkered grips in Kingwood. I called and their customer service was awesome. This gal was very knowledgeable about all the Hogue grips and CC practices. She even gave me a 10% discount and said if they didn't conceal well enough for me or did not feel right I could exchange them with no hassles. She did mention the bantam would be a better option for pocket carry but let's face it...I got a 649. Not exactly the smallest, lightest gun for that purpose!
I'll just mostly carry OWB and be happy. :)
Oh...you bought the Kingwood?
I really like their Kingwood grips & also their Rosewood Laminate - both are beautiful and tough as iron.
I have their Kingwood grips on my SIG. It's an all 'round great wood for gun grips and it's extremely stable as well as being beautiful.

I like the checkered service stocks combined with the Tyler T-Grip,they draw great from the pocket and provide great control.
This combo would probably not work if using speedloaders.
