Comparison Charts: Kimber Solo vs. ...

Seems like everyone is talking about the new Kimber Solo sub-compact 9mm these days so I thought It'd be nice to make a few Charts comparing it to other popular compact/sub-compact 9mm automatics.

I also made a few charts comparing it to two small revolvers.

The Solo has a length of 5.5" , a height of 3.9" and a maximum width of 1.20". KImber is measurering the max width to include the tiny ambi-safeties. The slide width is measured at .995". This data is listed on Kimber's site.

Handgun photos and attached images are rendered at +/- 0.3125" or 1/32" MOE.

Hope you find the comparison charts useful, or at least, entertaining.

I appreciate the comparisons, los. My LGS's usually don't get in new models very quickly.

    Hello, VBVAGUY.

I found that pretty interesting myself.

It's obvious that O/A/L and O/A/H dimensions are measured at different points on the firearm, by different manufacturers. That's where a side-by-side comparison really comes in handy.

Yeah its funny how manufactures use different ways to measure. I know 1st hand that the Solo is just a tad shorter than the PM9 and I know the PM9 is a tad shorter than the PF9. Keep up the great work on these charts !!! God Bless

Great post and information! If possible, please include the Walther PPS 9mm in your comparison chart. I think the best ones are still the Kel-Tec PF9 and the Kahr PM9 in terms of width, length, height and weight. The Glock 26 looks so bulky compared to all these pistols. I sure hope that Glock launches soon a single stack 9mm. That would be awesome!

Yeah it's bulky, but there is a whole lotta firepower in that little bad-boy. I love me some G26.

Hey Los - If you're taking requests, how about width comparisons?

    Thanks for the heads up.

I think the extended magazine [pinky] base on the PF9 threw the image size off to small. I'll re-render using calculations with a flat magazine base to see how that looks compared to the Solo.

A Graph showing slide width ("max width" includes safeties) per handgun is illustrated in the charts. :)

Great charts! Thanks for the effort. This should be a sticky.

Would you mind emailing the charts?
