    Best 1911 under $1000?

Ok, I am in the market for a 1911 that is no more than $1000. Here is the criteria:

    1) 4" barrel
    2) Would like it to have night sights but not a deal breaker..
    3) Prefer Stainless, have too many black guns
    4) Reliable track record

Thanks, now I'll kick back and wait on replies!!

    Springfield Loaded Champion.

MSRP of around $1050 so should be a decent clip under that at retail. If for some reason you have any trouble with your gun, Springfield WILL make it right in a TIMELY manner and with the professionalism you deserve and expect.

WOW, all the same answer! I actually had this gun in mind but several of the dealers in my are unable to get one..... Is this the only option in this price range?? How much more money would it take to get other options?

KIMBER PRO CARRY II!!!!!! Stainless with night sights, $999 (hey, it's below $1,000) Stainless w/o night sights $899 Blue with night sights, $879 Blue w/o night sights $799. I know others have their own opinions and every gun will have a friend and a foe. but mine is the best handgun I have ever owned/carried/trusted with my life.

    Springfield's are also Excellent!

Having owned 15 1911s, I'd opt for either the Colt XSE line or much mentioned Springfield Loaded, although I prefer the 5" models.

Another one for the Springer Loaded.

Everything you need for a defensive pistol, at a very competitive price point.

I think Springfield gets you more bang for your buck (pun intended) than Kimber. They are pretty comparable in the features, but the Champ has a few differences that make a difference to me. I'll compare to the Kimber Pro HD II since it, like the Springfield, is an all-steel 4" gun.

They both have similar features, except that the Pro HD II does not come stock with tritium sights. Springfield also has a better track record when it comes to quality control. I hear about far more Kimbers having to go back to the factory multiple times to attempt to correct factory defects.

You also get the Springfield customer service, which is great!

What they all said already. Owner of 4 SA's here, two of them 1911s. Had an issue with accuracy of one of them and within 15 minutes of a call to Springfield had a printable shipping label in email. Shipped it off the next day and within 10 days the gun was returned with many upgrades including new barrel, trigger job, slide refinish, frame/slide fit. Way to go Springfield! You can't go wrong there.
