    My New Springfield Armory 1911!

Here she is. I picked her up with my Tax Return. Brand New. Springfield Armory Loaded 1911 PX9109LP. Comes with Night Sights too.

I went shooting tonight and shot 100 rounds of CCI Blazer Aluminum. Flawless operation. Dumb dumb me forgot the Remington Golden Sabers on the Kitchen counter, so unfortunately I won't be able to carry it until I can make it back to the range.

This is my first 1911 and first .45. I am in love. I may never buy anything besides 1911s ever again.

Surprisingly I shoot the .45 much better than I shoot my 9mms.

I am planning on changing out the Mainspring Housing because it has the Internal Locking system. And I plan on changing the guide rod because the stock one requires an allen wrench to disassemble the gun. Any Suggestions?

Dump the two-piece rod, go with the tried and true GI rod and plug. You can use the same spring.

BRAVO!!! Good to see such a pretty new tool. I am very happy for you. Wish I had a new 1911, oh wait, mine is only 40 days old. :)

The locking system is unobtrusive and impossible to engage without the hammer down and I've never heard of any Springer 1911 seizing due to the lock. I have a Springer Mil-Spec with it and the only reason I've considered taking it out is to put a checkered straight mainspring instead.

    Either way, nice 1911!

Also get some Wilson 47D mags or some Tripp Research Cobra mags. Both are super reliable!

Excellent choice, as far as the ILS system I have carried my Micro-Compact for over seven years and run over 1000 rounds through with no problems with the lock. The only reason I would foresee changing it would be to switch to an arched housing.

Brownells has the parts to switch out the guide rod to the traditional style.

I love my Loadeds, some of the best pistols I own. A very solid 1911 platform. I agree about some Wilson 47Ds.

I seem to have been writing a very similar post several months back. I hope you continue to enjoy your's as much as I am mine. And yes, they ARE contagious! I had a few probs with mine after a few hundred rounds but SA made them right and then some.

Glad to hear the ILS hasn't cause any problems. I'll probably leave it alone for now then.

I have the same model. I love it.

In addition to being one of my favorite range guns, it also has the distinct honor of being my last line of defense in a Gun Vault by the bed.

    Congrats!
