Colt New Agent, Point of Aim
I have just acquired a Colt New Agent. I have run about 300 rounds thru it. The gun runs perfectly. A dream to carry. Conceals very well. The problem is that it shoots low. I played with different sight pictures, and never found anything that worked, I finailly found a pistol rest and the gun shot a 1" ragged hole at 7 yards, 3 inches low. I let the range master shoot it from the rest with the same bulls eye hold that i was using with the same results. Five shot group the size of a quarter 3 inches low.
Some one told me today to send it back to Colt and they would "re-crown" it and that would fix the problem. Thoughts on this? I have several other 1911's and all have traditional sights, I bought this gun for concealablilty, and daily carry, i know that it will never be a target gun. I spent about 50 rounds this morning at a 7 yard target, just drawing and pointing the gun at center mass and fireing twice to three times as fast as i could, they all were center mass hits with a spread of about 9 inches, If i aim and compenstate for the difference I can put them in a 1 1/2 hole.
I know that is more of a mind game for me now. knowing in the back of my mind that it is shooting low and supconsiously compensating for it.. do I get it fixed (if Possible) or just run it like it is?
