used G23.jpgsights on G23.jpgnew G23.jpgI know, holster wear is'nt an issue so much, and character is good , i'll agree. I wanted ext slide rel. which it did not have, the stock sights are chipped and banged up so a set of fiber optics day/low light sites are only $54.00. replacement parts are costing me $88.00, i can live with that. Hogue slip on grip i had on my 19 and loved it. i have a slide backplate already, new so i'll replace the old scratched, chipped up one, maybe gun was dropped to have chipped rear sight and slide backplate, no biggie still a deal worth jumping on. Thanks though for your replies, i will accept good and bad ,I'm thick skinned, more now than my younger days and appreciate all your thoughts and knowledge on my choice! heres some pics:

Biker, You can send it to Glock and they will go over the entire weapon and replace anything that needs replacing free of charge. All you pay is the shipping. They charge $45.00 to refinish the slide if you want that done.

Most PD trade-ins are pretty good deals. Especially if there're any notches on the grip!

Thanks old skool for that info. I guess I can call this G23 my restoration truck gun project, that's where it will be most of the time. Foe appendix carry my G27 w/shorter barrel is nice, most likely keep both. Both .40 cal is a good thing and can use G23 mags in g27.

Looks like you got a good deal to me. It looks to be in good shape and its a Gen 2 in a tupperware case. I'd say you scored!
Look it over for Austrian proof stamps. I didnt see any, but they might not show up in pics.

Thanks Kid, I believe I did good! I'm going to try and keep both G27 & 23,would be a good duo. Can go to either one when needed. Gotcha Dogboy, I needed the sights for sure! Just got the other stuff cause I like hogues, ext controls and new guiderod/spring was a good idea if needed,if not can always use it later. I have been looking at these trade ins for awhile and just decided it was time!

I take each used gun on what I see. I tear them down make sure they function properly and then test them. I don't discount any gun because of were it came from.

I have bought several LEO trade ins in the past--just went to the range and shot them. (G-22s, 23s, 31s and S&Ws) Never had to replace anything. Last purchase was a G-31 that looked unfired. It has PD name on slide, but is otherwise prefect. I practice with a 9mm barrel and mags in it.
I don't hesitate to buy and shoot LE trade ins.

"Say when."
I wish I had Doc's pistolero skills.........Nice purchase on the G23. I would like to get a bigger 22/23 to pair up with my 27.

That's why I grabbed this 23 Doc, to go along w/27. like most 9mm fans do G19 and a G26,makes alot of sense whether you carry the small one as bkup or just in hot weather months. For the money I spent, shoot I've spent more on Kimbers,RIA's,S&W,Berettas and always comeback to a Glock,so i'm satisfied with the duo I now have. And it's fun adding on cool xtras , highlighting lettering on slides, polishing barrel's and just making an older glock look real nice. I'm stocked up ok now w/.40 S&W,bout 700 rds for some range time, so I'm good.

From my experience as a range instructor for my agency, most cops carry their gun every day and only shoot it when required to i.e. during our quarterly in-service training. Even a 10 yr old gun probably has less that 2k rounds through it I would guess...
