Ah dang... Held an HK P30 today. Lets see your HK's or chime in!

I've been saving up for another gun purchase, and have really run around in circles over what to get next. As far as pistols go, I currently have an HK USPc (.40 w/LEM trigger) and a Colt Series 70 1911. I was really bouncing around with another 1911, .44 mag revolver, a 9mm auto or subcompact .40 - all for various reasons. Well I had been thinking about maybe a Glock 19 (I bought my Dad a G23, its a nice gun) but today I went and held a P30 - and at that point it was all over. Many people have a lot to say about the cost of an HK or the Trigger but I got my USPc direct from HK for the cost of a Glock under a special deal and I've learned the LEM trigger well and love it! I've got a buddy that hates it but I can outshoot him pretty consistently and mine shoots exactly where you aim it! I prefer the feel of both the HK USPc and P30 over a glock as well. Both fine guns, but the HK is it for me. So my next purchase is going to be a P30 (I'm fairly certain). Besides spending $800 dollars on a gun in 9mm so the ammo will be much cheaper to shoot makes perfect sense right? If the wife were ever to get into shooting she may prefer the smaller grip and caliber over the .40 or .45 too right? *like my justification here?* Then I can alternate HKs for the HD role and carry role.

Anyhow - Loved the P30 and I can't wait to get one! Until then here's a pic of my USP compact. Lets see a show of HK fans!

Here is my HK USP Compact .40 S&W. If you like German pistols, don't forget to check out Walther as well. Below I also posted a photo of my Walther P99 9mm.

I don't have a photo of my USP45c to post, but I know how you feel about the P30. I was looking at one just the other day during my lunch break. It was a good thing I didn't have my credit card with me.

I was already to put my credit card in the wallet and buy the gun the next day until I picked up my Browning High Power. No other gun feels more natural in my hand that it does. Last year I sent it to Novak's to have the front sight replaced and it has been sitting in storage since. I just got use to carrying the USP. I'm back to carrying the BHP now.

I may still buy the P30, just not right now.

My P30 L. Super accurate and reliable to a fault.

My P2000 SK. A real tack driver, great for concealed carry.

HK P30 is the only handgun that I sold that I want back. It's an awesome weapon.

HK cost more but I believe that they are more.

Your rationale seems perfect fine to me. I'll be buying an HK P30 in the next week or so. I have to do it... for holster making purposes.

    Excellent Guns

I also like H&Ks, and own two USPs, a full size .45 and a compact 40, both with stainless slides. I would like to try a P2000SK or the squeeze cocking P7M8.

I have owned a USP45, HK45, USP45Tac, P7 and a P30. I have standardized on 9mm so the .45s are gone with the exception of the Tac (barring fiscal catastrophe it will always be on my night stand or in my safe). I love how the HKs shoot, how fast they drop back on target and how they eat recoil. I just wish their sights and triggers were as nice as my P226 though. My perfect pistol would be a P30 with a Sig P226 DA/SA Trigger and Contrast sights.

Pogo the price of admission to the P7 is reasonable if you go with a PSP. Top Gun Supply has some gems for between 500-700. HKSpecialist had a sweet looking Nickel for 750. The PSP is the same pistol as the M8 mechanically with the exception of a mag base release and no heat guard. Those changes were bastardizations of the original p7 for the US market.

At this time, I have five HK pistols---two full-size USPs in 9mm---one full-size .45 ACP---one USPc SS 9mm and one P2000 9mm. The two full-size 9mms share the same mags and the USPc/P2000 9mms also share the same mags---all are DA/SA types---its what I am comfortable with. Now get this, NONE of these five pistols has EVER had a jam of any type! If I could buy a P30 here in Kalifornia, I would!

I have put some 1600 rounds through my USP compact without a single malfunction. HK makes some darn good pistols.
