well guys I finally got a chance to shoot a friends SP101 last week. I was pretty convinced it was going to be my next purchase. I guess I'm just weird because I did not enjoy shooting it at all. It is a rock solid fantastic gun, but I just didn't like it.

The trigger does not even compare to that of the LCR and the recoil was much worse from a gun of that weight. It sure is a beautiful gun though.

Yeah zacii, I've tried a number but the all true black ebony work. I just never liked the contrast between other woods, the black rubber oem grip and the silver. Sticking with all black and silver works and even though the ebony is "understated", it looks quality and is way better than the OEM plastic inserts that look like....well....plastic.

Been there for awhile. The SP101 was one that had to grow on me. The first few range trips I was really disgusted in my shooting of this little 5-shooter, but I guess I grew into it and now I wouldn't part with it. I put in a lighter Wolf hammer spring in it and use a Simply Rugged (inside-outside option) when I carry it.
Chose a weapon that goes bang EVERY time!

Pics of both my current SP101's. The first is a 4" in 32 H&R Magnum. The second is a recent purchase featuring a 3" barrel in 327 Magnum

Gemini Customs does some fine work ! Always liked the bead-blasted look.

Hogue grip & Wolff spring kit made this an even better shooter.

The situation will NEVER BE THE WAY YOU WANT, it WILL BE THE WAY IT IS. You must be FLEXIBLE ENOUGH TO ADAPT and just "DEAL WITH IT".

I just joined the club about 3 weeks ago. Absolutely love this pocket cannon! After carrying it everyday for these past 3 weeks, I had to ask myself "Why the heck didn't I get one of these years ago!?" Truly an awesome carry piece!

Yeah, pretty much anyone will tell you that the LCR trigger is better then the 101 unless your shooting a 101 that has had trigger work done. I have to admit that I am surprised you found the recoil uncomfortable. I am a self proclaimed "recoil sissy" and I don't have a issue putting 100 rounds of .357 through in a range session. Out of curiosity do you have much experience shooting wheel guns? They do tend to handle a bit different then a semi and for me personally required a slight change in grip.

The Ruger SP 101, .357 magnum, 2 1/4" barrel is my primary carry weapon. Have it loaded with Speer Gold Dot JHP, 125gr.
