Very nice, everyone! I don't have a SP101 yet (just a beautiful GP100), but I plan as funds allow to add both a 3 inch and Wiley Clapp 2.25 inch to the family...
On my 10:00 O'clock right now... (lefty)
Snubby in .357
trigger/hammer shims,
polished internals
minor spring changes
XS Big Dot front
Dehorned
Glass bead blasted matte
Pachymer combat grips (have several others too, but always go back to these).
Looking to get a 3" but, wanted to know if anyone has ever shot hotter factory loads out of the 3"? My GP 100 is loaded with Buffalo Bore 180 hard cast for my wilderness/fishing gun and wanted the SP to do some woods duty at times. That load is no big deal in the 5" GP but, might be quite stout in the SP. Any experience?
Just got my 2.25" SP101 .357mag a few weeks ago.
We're still getting aquainted so it's still the Beretta PX4 9mm that is my "go to".
I'm sure the SPud and the Storm will learn to get along
Ah the Trausch grip, the Holy Grail itself!!!! Last time I was able to locate a set for sale they were in Austrailia and almost as much as what I paid for my SP. Tell us how it is you are involved in recreating the Trausch and how how soon can I send you my money!!!!
I never thought I would carry a revolver however as soon as I bought my sp101 I fell in love and as soon as I changed the stock grips It never left my side.
I have 3 each SP101's, a 2" .357, a 4" .22 and a 4" .327 Federal mag. The .327 mag is a prelude to an LCR .327 Fed mag. The SP 101 shooting .327 Half Jacket HP's is like shooting my .44mag. The gallon water jugs blow up like they got hit with a .44 mag. All are keepers.
All right you SP 101 guys, what is the real difference in felt recoil vs the LCR 357? I love the LCR but I held a lot of 101s before I bought the LCR, wouldn't mind having both.
I have both. It used to be fun shooting 357 reloads that replicated Corbon or Gold Saber recoil. These days with joint pain I only shoot 38 and 38+P in the lighter guns. The 357 ammo is saved for my 4" ported gun.
Here is my SP101 3". I removed quite a bit of material off a Hogue Rosewood grip. The grips aren't the prettiest but they do fit my hand as good as they could. No more pain after a range day. It has a reduced power hammer spring.
I have never owned a Ruger SP101 or a Glock 19.
