I've always favored my Colt Commander .45 for carry, with an alternate in my Astra Cub .25 when I want something light. I shoot both very well and they are comfortable. But I've added a third choice ....
Recently, I gave in to a whim and bought a Taurus PT111 9mm 12+1. It is so ugly that it's cute, plus it's compact and light. I'd read a lot of negative comments on this gun, but my other Taurus (a PT92) has performed flawlessly for over ten years and the price on the 111 was right at $319. At any rate, after a couple of months and about 500 rounds, I haven't had a single FTF or FTE from the 111. It's a dream to carry in the Tagua open top holster I have.
I shoot this pistol a bit low and left of the aimpoint. And after bolting her down in a pistol rest, I've found that this is me and not the pistol. I just have to get used to the DA/SA long-pull trigger. And she's a defensive pistol, not a target pistol.
I did have one small issue when the ejector pin started to back out of the top of the slide, but a drop of oil on the lower end and a drop of Loc-Tite on the top solved that. Right now the PT111 is my favorite.
