I carry a SW40VE Custom but I'm looking for a compact pistol to swap it out for as the frame is just too big for me to easily conceal without wearing an over shirt. Florida summers make it tough to carry a big gun lol.
I carry either a Sig p6 9mm or my 1911 government along with a .38 snub for a BUG,if I know I'm going by a bad area or unknown area it's my .45 for sure,The Sig is a great pistol but nothing comes close to the 1911 platform!I'm more accurate with my 1911 then any other platform I have used,it has a low bore axis, low felt recoil, the grip is awesome,it's reliability has been exceptional,it conceals very easily. The only drawback it has is it is on the heavy side, but with a quality holster and belt that's not really a big problem.I carry 8 in my mag,1 in the chamber with an xtra 10 rd clip, thats 18 rds of .45 and 5 .38 spl with one reload so 10 of .38spl if thats not enough then I walked into a war zone and it doesn't matter how much ammo I had!
I'm not into the caliber wars I truly believe it's placement of the round that counts over the caliber of your round. a .22 in the head will kill you faster then a .45 that misses you. I just favor the .45 due to my yrs in the service and training with the caliber. In some cases the .45 trumps the 9mm,but I can also admit in other cases the 9mm trumps the .45,it all depends on what you need done. You strap on what you feel is best for you, your the most accurate with and what you can afford and do your best to as efficient as possible with what you have.the true weapon is between your shoulders, everything else is the tools you'll be using1 be safe
Currently I am carry a Smith and Wesson Mod 66-1 .357 magnum with 2.5" barrel loaded with Buf. Bore tactical low flash, low recoil 125 grain hollow points.

When I have to dress up I carry a Kimber Tactical II Ultra 3" 1911 45 ACP
While living in Atlanta for 30 years I generally carried a Colt 1911 but on occasion a Sig P232 both concealed. Now that I'm retired and living in Alabama where the permit to carry is tied to a specific gun via model and serial number, I elected to carry my least favorite gun the Sig P232. My thinking is that if marshal law should go into effect perhaps the 232 will be confiscated leaving the others safe. Not sure if that is how it would go down but I didn't want to advertise my bigger guns. I practice staying the heck away from bad sections of town or putting myself in harms way so the small caliber .380 should be enough for my purposes, hell, it was good enough for James Bond![]()
