It would be interesting to see some specs, specifically dimensions and especially weight.

It pretty much reminds me of a Glock or XD. I'm sure it's fine for function, but I don't see a styling breakthrough here.

I believe that's a Glock 36 (somewhat larger than G26) in the photo with it.

That is a nice looking gun. The grip angle looks very similar to that of the glock. It would seem that folks who have a problem with the glock grip angle may not care much for the m&p as well. I've never handled one so I don't know for sure how they compare.

Acutally I can't stand the grip angle of the glock. I converted over from an XD for personal and accuracy reasons. The angle is much like the XD, but in a way that it wants to be held like a 1911, but the palm swell is different, thats the only way to put it, is different.

Not sure, but I can't see that they would. Gotta keep the lawyers happy somehow.

As an S&W fan, I was excited about the M&P. I handled it several times in shops and at shows, and I was planning to get one. I ended up getting one as a T&E gun for my department. i am very glad I got to try one of somebody elses nickle. I went from loving it to hating it.

Slow fire was very accurate, but I found the pistol very hard to control in rapid fire drills. It has a lot of muzzle flip, and I had a hard time with follow up shots.

It's a shame because it is a great looking and feeling pistol.

Hey, CombatEffedtive-just curious-the M&P you found you disliked due to muzzle flip...was it a .40? Also, what were you comparing it to, as far as muzzle flip? I'm no fan of any plastic guns, but I'm planning on getting a 9mm MP for my son's first centerfire pistol. I figured the low bore axis would make it pretty controllable-but I know the 40s have a lot more "wrist action" than 9s.
Now, I may have to get myself one of the compacts, too...

Mag Safety is still there on M&P

Someone asked if the S&W M&P still has the traditional magazine disconnect safety. The answer is yes. See this page from the S&W website:

It's a .40SW, and it has more muzzle flip than any other .40SW or any 9mm that I have shot. The 9mm version might be a bit better.

Once again, I loved everything about the pistol until I shot it.

As for the mag disconnect, I believe they can be had without it.
