    kimber update


    about six weeks ago i bought the above pictured kimber pro raptor 2. although i followed break-in proceedure, the weapon just wouldnt function reliably. after seemingly continual failures to feed and multiple failures to eject (a little over 1000 rounds total) i got a full refund from my local dealer who sent it back to kimber for repairs. he recently got it back from kimber and he gave me a copy of the invoice they sent back.





    looking over the list of repairs, it definately waters down my perception of what "custom shop" really means. i could understand problems with a production line pistol, but doesnt "custom shop" indicate hand fitting and extra care during the build? how in the hell does a weapon make it through a custom shop with this much wrong with it? to me this signifies that "custom shop" is just a stamping they put on the slide.....marketing to justify the extra expense.

    .....unbelievably im actually considering purchasing this weapon again from the same dealer. i was extremely pleased with how it felt in my hand, and very disappointed that it wouldnt function for me.

    NatSel, I literly "feel your pain". I have two Kimbers and have never had a problem with either. WHY?? Hell,I don't know. I've stopped trying to figure it out. I have friends that own Kimbers and they have had problems such as yours.

    I would agree with your statements above ref. the building,final finishing/fitting of the weapon and the QA/testing of the weapon prior to shipping. When a weapon is sent back to them for any functioning issues and they replace/rework all the above parts,what do they think that the customer will feel about it. My first thought would be,"Why the hell did they ship it with all these things wrong with it" ??

    Why would they have to--> ream the chamber ??-->adjust mag ?? whuzzup wit dat ?? What mag(brand name) did they have to "adjust" and how did they "adjust" it ??

    I would believe that you would be considering "re"buying the weapon. They just seem to feel good in the hand and come with all the goodies for CC or competition.

    BUT !!!, GD it Kimber,THEY GOTTA SHOOT !!!!!!!!!!!! ---------- P.S. Would be interested in what kinda discount(if any) does the dealer have on it now. ------

    You got to love em!!

    NaturalSelection,.....That is one fine looking weapon!! I have the TCll, and love it!! only a couple of "break in" mishaps. It is not looking good for the Kimber "Rep", though. Your posts with pics pretty much sums it up. It's a damn shame that they want so much for this firearm and have those type problems. Bad management in my opinion. Maybe Kimber is "Backing out", or some business "overtake" is going on. I'll definitely wait for my next purchase though.
