    sprinfield EMP?

Seen one of these little beauty at gun range, did some research on them good reviews. Was thinking of getting one, but little pricey, anyone on here have one or carry one? What are your thoughts, especially compared to Kimber or Kahr?

Use the search function as they have been discussed multiple times, also check out the 1911 forums (m1911 or 1911forum) as they will also have a great deal of information for you. I was looking at one for a while they shoot great and while the early ones had some minor issues it appears the vast majority of them run like tops or they all do after a trip back to springfield. I have also heard that springfield has incredible customer service. They have the potential to be much more reliable than Kimbers b/c they are designed around the 9mm cartridge rather than just a .45 frame fitted to run a 9mm, and that also causes them to not have many pieces interchangeable with other 1911s. Which Kahr are you comparing the EMP with because the Kahrs I am familiar with are non safety DAO pistols and that's a whole different style of firearm.

Here is why I didn't buy one. Price, they are pricey little buggers, I was able to purchase a .45 1911 and almost 1000 rounds of ammo for the same price as an EMP in my area. Size; slide length is short but that doesn't bother me much as its the part that is concealed, the grip is so long with the slam pad that its virtually the same length as a bobtail 1911 fulllsize, so you don't gain much in concealibilty. Weight; the 1911 I got is the same weight unloaded as the EMP. Capacity; I think it holds 8-9 rounds of 9mm, the 1911 I bought holds 7+1 of .45. While I shoot it incredibly well I don't shoot it much faster than a .45 so I'd rather get the larger cartridge, especially when I'm only sacrificing a round or two in capacity.

    Hope that helps

I have an emp 9mm... love the gun. Worth every penny to me. I highly recommend it.
Initially, it did require a trip back to Springfield for ftfs...received it back in 8-10 days... 100% through 1100+ rounds since.
    (Springfield has great customer service.)
Extremely accurate, terrific trigger, well balanced, low recoil...and beautiful.
But Hedgelj does make some valid points and observations. And check out earlier threads on the emp.

I have the EMP 40 and I love it, very smooth, very accurate, and easy to conceal.

Ive always wanted one...but why in the heck do they cost so much? I can buy a very nice AR rifle for what the EMP costs.

I've had one for almost a year. Very reliable and great to shoot. I carry mine often with no concerns. They are a bit pricey but your paying for quality and I am sure a little exclusivity. Can't go wrong with a Springfield!
It's not a problem til they make it one!

Great gun .... worth the money.... IMHO better made than the Kahrs, and haven't compared to Kimbers (probably a matter of choice there), although I've heard more people having problems with their Kimbers.
