Proof that 1911 Handguns are Made in Utah

Reuters news service this week said that it was so, so it must be true, no? The 1911 handgun is manufactured in Utah, so that is why it is now the official state handgun. Makes sense, no?

"The 1911 gun, which turns 100 years-old this year, is manufactured in Ogden, Utah."

Here is a link to the news full news story:

Utah becomes first in U.S. to designate official state gun - TODAY News - TODAY.com

Other Utah state symbols include the Dutch oven, Spanish sweet onion, the sugar beet, the elk and the cutthroat trout.

Browning introduced the 1911-22 this year. I'm pretty sure it is made in the U.S. - maybe Utah?

That is cool. I wonder if NH would pick the Winchester 1894 30/30 as their firearm because every family here has at least one of them.

Apparently some Brownings are made in Utah (though they don't say which ones): Browning link. Others are made in Belgium, Portugal, and Japan.
(By the way, I'm calling dibs on the Colt Peacemaker as South Dakota's official gun.)

I believe the last Browning weapon actually made in Utah was his Model 1878 (Winchester renamed it the Model 1885 after T.G. Bennett of Winchester bought the rights to make them).

I heard CA nominated Arnold Schwarzenegger as their firearm, but he had too much capacity and they sent him back to Austria. His response was "I'll be back"! Then this comment was followed by "Come with me if you want to live!"

Correction noted. Should have read article instead of going by memory.

Not a place to put any credibility to their gun facts, is it. But the spelled "Utah" right, they probably had to look that up though.

Remember, Arizona does NOT border Mexico ... according to some people.
