Just ran 50 rounds through the Firestar. Only missed the target 4 times at 20M. My first hand gun in about 4 years. I defiantly need to brush up on my skills. I am going to buy it, but the gunsmith at the place told me the double stack mags (13 round) were hard to come by. Any suggestions on where to get some more mags and a holster? Thanks in advance.

Do it! My first handgun i shot and owned was a firestar in a 40! Excellent guns, only con is the weight but well worthwhile when it only adds more to control!

I think the Star pistols are still practical, useful handguns and represent good value. Though they are discontinued they are nicely made, better than several current popular 9mms in my view. I have a Star BM around here.

    Cool

Welcome from Florida. Sounds like a real good price if it is in good condition.

Thanks for this great forum! I was wondering what a good price would be to offer on a 9mm Star Firestar with 13 round mag. My buddy is asking $200. Is that a good price for a weapon that is no longer in production?

BTW, this would be used for my Conceal Cary Class

    Thanks for the advice.

    Peace,

Good price, if that's what you want. On Gunbroker they tend to go in the $300-ish range.

I picked one up in December, an even trade for a Bulgarian Makarov.

Magazines are expensive -- on the order of $40/each. Holster makers that list for them are few and far between. Don Hume and Bladetech are two.

hanks for the advice, I will take it to the range today to see how she handles.
I think it handles like a bigger gun than it is. The only downside is that the base of the grip is squared off, not rounded, and digs in a bit on my palm when firing.

On account of the magazine disconnect, magazines are not drop free.

Magazine availability for the Firestar is decent. They're just expensive.

That's a good price, about $250 around here. I have one that my father purchased new in 1990 and never fired its the best shooting 9mm I own, parts are still available online.
