    Best...handgun...evar!

I have the type of job that I don't do a whole lot until something breaks (computer network admin). Because I am pretty effective I spend a lot of time just screwing around at work. I have a couple buddies that are also network admins and it's pretty common for use to just e-mail idle chit chat back and fourth to keep the boredom at bay. One of my buddies is also a fellow firearms enthusiast so it's not uncommon for the topic of guns to come up. Today we had the following e-mail exchange -

Him - Best hand gun ever?
    Me - Define "Best"
Him - Go with your gut reaction
Me - Sorry, You have to narrow it down at least a LITTLE bit...
Him - Fine... Best COMBAT handgun
Me - 1911 Followed very closely by the Glock 17
Him - Ok, best CARRY hand gun
Me - A tie between the Glock 26 and the J-Frame

How about you? The best combat handgun and the best carry handgun. What's the first things that come to mind? Don't think to much into it, this is just for fun.
-It is a seriously scary thought that there are subsets of American society that think being intellectual is a BAD thing...

Combat- Glock 18 (with the "goody" magazine) because it's versatile. Realistically- almost any .45 with an extended magazine.
Carry- My Windicator with the 2"barrel. All the fun of a .357 Mag, small enough to drop into most pockets without making a huge bulge.

    Wow - that IS tough!

COMBAT - I'm with you on the 1911, but my XDm40 is gaining ground. Haven't shot it enough to say for sure if it'll displace the 1911, but it might. Mainly because of capacity.
    CARRY - Kahr CW45

OK - the S&W 686 Combat Magnum is the best handgun of all time. No question.

You don't believe me, try one out. You can draw pictures on your targets. Smiley face, check mark, just draw whatever shapes you want.

In the semiauto category, I went with the SR9c after having had tried many Glocks, HKs, etc. The Browing HP is a contender, but for firepower and simplicity, the SR9c is a tough gun to beat. Watch Hickok45's review of the gun. He was blown away.

I was not aware that the Ruger P89 had earned a spot on this list.
