    Another which 1911..???

Will make it short. I've narrowed it down to a Springfield Loaded or a Colt XSE. I want a 5" model.

Which brand would you get? Why?
    Which specific model? Why?

    Thanks for the input.

You and I have come to the same conclusion. My next 5" 1911 will be one of those two models...would like to have one of each eventually. I would go Colt XSE Stainless, and Springer Loaded Parkerized. I intend to get the Colt first, purely for sentimental reasons.

Good luck with your purchase, and be sure to post pics here once you bring it home!

I am a big fan of the Springfield Loadeds, I think they are one of the best deals out there when it comes to production 1911s. Never had a problem with mine. If you have a problem, their customer service is supposed to be top notch.

That being said, I plan on getting a Colt 1911 made in 2011, but that is more the sentimental side of me. But either one will be a shooter.

I have a loaded springer widebody that some call hi-cap13+1 for capacity. I've had it for 6 years now it's too heavy for concealed carry,at least for me.
I must say when I was comparing Springers to colts I still like my springer better as I think you are paying extra for the pony.I think that's also true with
    the black rifles.

Agreed buckeye...I don't think zeppelin could go wrong with either pistol.

I'd have a real hard time not buying a 2011 Colt XSE, but me being me unless I specifically wanted stainless, I'd opt for the parkerized Loaded 5" only because my body chemistry kills blued guns.

The XSE would really be more for the novelty aspect. Just to have a colt 1911. Plus it is a good year for it.

Functionally are they worth the extra $200?

I own many 1911's. I love them. I've owned them all (Colt, Springfield, Kimber, Wilson, Ed Brown, Baer, etc.) and in the end, you simply can't beat the quality and performance of the Springfield 1911's. The Loaded has all the features you will need in a modern 1911 for a great price and it's all backed up by a company that has the best customer service in the industry.

I vote for the SA Loaded.

Functionally, the Springfield is a much better deal. Take the saved money, and get some 47D's and ammo.

The Springfield is marginally a nicer gun, but the Colts seem to have more consistent quality of late.

Colts tend to have sharp edges, and while the XSEs have Novaks, the Springfield Armory 1911s have night sights and a better dehorning process. I think the deciding factor would be how the gun felt to me, i.e. I would buy one locally or at a gun show where I could inspect it myself.

Colt! LGS has a used one in mint condition and they are asking $825 for it. The great thing about colts are is that you just aren't gonna loose much if you ever sell it.

I never liked 1911's until recently. The one I now want is of course unaffordable. There are so many options, I'd probably fry my brain even if I did have the money. sigh.

Springfield Loaded, I have one great gun never had any problems but if you just "want" a Colt than get that otherwise there's really no justification for the extra cost besides the brand loyalty.

I'm leaning towards the Loaded now. Although drag's offer is tempting.
