    Ruger lcp : New today!

Just picked-up my new CCW and haven't had a chance to fire it yet-- maybe tomorrow. Checked out a lot of comments before buying, but wonder if other owners have some tips that could help me avoid "stupid" problems. I'll probably use it as a back-up to my M&P 9mm compact, but might use it as my EDC in the warmer months. Anything you might want to pass along will be appreciated. Many thanks.

Congrats on your LCP. Those things sell like hotcakes. They're one of the best pocket pistols in the market..!

    Hi,
    1) Yes, it is correct that the slide does not lock back when empty.

    2) Resist the temptation to get a cheapie pocket or iwb holster like an Uncle Mikes. They are slippery inside and the gun can fall out easily if it is not secured by hand when ....ahem..bending over or adjusting your waistband. Needs a proper holster with retention and a reasonably proper gun belt.

    3) Checkout the elsiepea forum, google it. All LCP people with lots of interesting chat for a new LCP owner.

    Enjoy.

Congrats! Only tip I can think of is to make sure the slide is fully in battery if you have any problems with the gun going BANG. Enjoy and stay safe.

I really like our LCP. Very easy to conceal in the warmer weather when you don't want to wear layers. And I enjoy shooting it. It is a very nice gun. Congrats and enjoy.

I cut my thumb pretty bad when I fired the LCP for the first time, wasn't aware of my thumb and bang. Next thing I noticed was my thumb was hurting pretty bad and blood was oozing out :(.

I highly recommend RKBA holsters for your LCP. I have one standard holster and one that also has the abitlity to carry a spare mag, kind of like the kangaroo holsters.

The only thing I could recommend is to stay away from Fist's IWB kydex holster. NOT worth the money and a poor fit.
You'll love the gun though. I have not had a problem with mine.

Field strip, clean and lubricate your LCP before heading to the range for the first time. Enjoy your new toy !
