Bought a Gen3 Glock 26 - My 1st Glock!
Yesterday afternoon I finally traded my P239 for a Glock 26 Gen3, and I am happy as a clam! I love the gun. I have not taken it to the range yet, but took it for a ride yesterday (restaurant, stores, all over), and it feels very comfortable and conceals easily...big improvement in concealability over the Sig. I was just wearing a T-shirt and cargo shorts, as I do almost 100% of the time here in FL during the summers. I got a new Blackhawk IWB holster with a high inner body so the gun won't touch the skin (my other P239 holsters also fit nicely) which I like a lot also. One of the best features of the G26 that I really like is its ability to fit larger size magazines of the same caliber. I bought a + 2, and I also got a G19 magazine and order the spacer for it. I also ordered the plug for the hole at the bottom of the grip.
I was undecided between the G19 and the G26 for a long time, but I figured it is easier to convert the G26 to almost a G19 with the G19 magazine and the spacer, but the opposite obviously cannot be done. Reliability was the most important consideration of course. Price and the awesome availability of accessories and parts were also huge pluses. Overall I wanted a gun that shoots like a larger gun (like my Sig used to) but it is easier to conceal, and the G26 fits the bill perfectly.
I also got an LCP while there for what I hope are those very rear occasions I cannot carry my G26.

Congratulations, hope it serves you well. I have a gen 3 G27, my reasoning for getting the compact was the same as yours. I honestly haven't found the spacer to be necessary. I have small hands so a lone wolf grip sleeve really helps, but it's dead accurate for me with the 9 or 15 mag as is. Got a crimson trace laser guard, a lighter trigger link, an extended mag release, and the longer slide release, kind of incrementally over time.
It's not a dog, but I love it about as much.

Congratulations on your Glock 26! Also, I think that the combination of a Glock 26 and a Ruger LCP is ideal for 24/7 concealed carry. You should also carry both sometimes to have a BUG.

Not a bad choice at all for your first Glock.
Congrats.

Congratulations on the new gun. I've got to ask, though - is carrying a gun you've never fired really a good idea?
