Just got one at the local GS. I checked it out and I am very impressed with the fit of the slide and the overall feel for the price. $639. But there is something about it from a looks standpoint that is just doesn't do it for me, but for all the Ruger people it looks like they are availible and at a killer price for the quality!
*It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
*Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.

Can you elaborate on what is wrong with the looks? Was it something with the way the slide was milled? My old SA had a mis-milled slide (the top radius wasn't centered) and it bugged the cr#p out of me.
I think it's just that certain things are just too....
The sights are a little too tall, the hammer is a little too thin, the serrations are a little too wide. Things that by themselves don't really matter, but together, they really add up.
I also never cared for an all-stainless gun with black backstrap and beavertail. Black sights are pretty much unavoidable, but the rest should have some consistency.
I'm sure the gun is just fine, but I want to like to look at a gun, and the SR1911 just doesn't do it for me. But looks are purely subjective. I'm sure plenty of people will/do love it.
Vermont does not issue Permit/Licenses to Carry a Concealed firearm. Vermont allows anyone
who can legally own a firearm to carry it concealed without a permit of any kind.

Y'know, I actually think it looks better in your pics than in the promotional ones. Plus, the left side looks better than the right, IMHO. Seeing more of the contrast pieces makes a difference.
Is the hammer lightened? It looks milled out. Or that a trick of the light?
