Sadly, I thought Colorado would score better, we only got a 15! Oh well, something to strive for....

Yeah, I was surprised by that. Alabama seems pretty open as far as gun laws are concerned, at least to me.

Some of those criteria on the site were really irritating.

As mentioned, Texas got a 6.

But they said Texas does not have a background check. I call BS on that as I've had to fill out that form every time ....

New Hampshire got a 6. Guess we'll just have to keep working on improving (i.e. lowering!) that score!

New Mexico only got a 4, we must be doing something right! Shooting for 0.
As usual the Brady Bunch didn't let facts get in their way, they claim NM doesn't require a permit to carry concealed, which of course is untrue. They wonder why they have no credibility.

I'm surprised the only state in the Union that has absolutely NO PROVISIONS for carrying any type of handgun under any circumstances AND requires a State Issued ID (FOID) to purchase, guns, ammo, or component parts (primers, powder, cases, etc) ONLY got a 35. I guess there's hope since they didn't score as high as Kommifornistan.

Looking at some of their facts, I think the Brady Bunch robbed us of 7 points with the gun show loophole business.
There are no legal private sales here. (A pistol purchaser permit through an FFL dealer is required for each handgun.)
Fixing that mistake puts us up to 79 points...just 1 point behind CA.
And then they should give us at least 5 points for NJ denying any possibility of carrying (oc or cc).
At least in CA, open carry is legal in many places...and conceal carry in a many counties.
We also have longer prison sentences if you're caught with an unloaded, cased firearm in your trunk if you're not traveling to and from the range/gun store. (7 years!)
We should have taken first prize. I'm filing a formal complaint. They'd better make it right!

SEVEN YEARS for having an unloaded, cased firearm in your trunk???????

YOU HAVE GO TO BE KIDDING???

it should be called The Repubik of New Jersey.....papers please!!!

edit: get the heck out of there and move down here to Kentucky.............

    I think this was rigged!

    VA-Shall Issue
    Open Carry Legal
    "Gun Show Loophole"
Exception to the 1 gun per month
Guns not prohibited on college campuses by law, (school can restrict it)
No registration of long guns or handguns
    No restriction on magazine capacity
    No assault weapon ban
According to them, our handgun laws are so weak, we're one of the largest supplier of illegal guns to other states

And somehow we got 16 points? I demand a recount by a fair and impartial jury!
