This is a discussion on Glock 26 vs Ruger sr9c (poll) within the Defensive Carry Guns forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; G26 Gen 4. I don't know if I am the only one, but I am a fan of the Gen 4 grip....
i think the Glock 26 is the better choice
i think the Ruger sr9c is the better choice
G26 Gen 4. I don't know if I am the only one, but I am a fan of the Gen 4 grip.
Maybe I'm wrong here but it seems like the people that own both vote ruger, everyone else is just voting glock because its what they own and swear by glocks.
And I'm looking to put some night sights on my Sr9c anyone on her know what I have to do to change the front sight? Do I need to take it somewhere or somethin?
There's nothing magical about Glocks either. But this post was specifically G26 vs SR9C so voting against Ruger doesn't make a person a Glock koolaid drinker.
I voted G26....(I own one).
I am however, a Ruger fan (used to work at their Newport, NH factory)
My buddy just bought an SR9C...so on Tuesday, we are going to go to the range and run them through their paces.
I will report back here..let you know what we find out!
holy thread resurrection batman!
The only Difference between the vanquished and victorious is resolve.
Ignorance is correctable, stupid aint.
It's peanutbutter jelly time
That's why I said most not all. I personally don't feel like either gun is better for Everyone, it obviously depends on the person. A lot of people don't like the safety I guess witch is understandable because u want to be able to just pull and shoot. My ruler is on me pretty much every second I'm awake and I like the safety because I am around my nieces and girlfriends son often. It just gives me a lil more piece of mind. I simply switch the safety off when I am out and about. Glocks just never felt right in my hand, the ruger fits perfect.
Ruger SR9C better value fine weapon no hype just an outstanding weapon.
i dont think the 2 are really comparable in the reliability dept.g26 no contest.
The Ruger is made in the states, the Glock in Austria, I believe. If I am wrong, please correct me. Granted , I own several foreign built firearms, no complaints. However , given the choice between U.S. made and foreign made , I would go with the U.S. made, given the the firearms are compareable . Needless to say, I own both: Rugers : P 90,P 345, P 95,P94,MK 1 & 2. S&W 4043, 457, M&P 40. Keltec 32 , Colt 1911 N.M, 1911 Officers Model. Fnh 5.7, Sig P6 , Bersa Ultra compact .45. Just my opinion, Glocks are not on my list by choice.
I don't care if its made in US or in China. i wouldn't even care if Charles Manson himself made the gun I carry. I'm not buying a toaster. I'm looking for the best gun I can afford. congratulations to those that find it in the SR9c because you saved a bit of $$. that gun doesn't fit my needs though.
set the parameters you think are important in an EDC and buy accordingly.
I believe most Glocks are made in Austria but the facility Smyrna,GA assembles them and I'm told manufactures parts for some of the models. It's of course still a foreign company though if that matters to you. (like US made Toyotas etc)
I took my G26 Gen4 out today, and my friend had his new in box Ruger SR9C.
Glock: 2 FTF, 1 FTE, 2 brass to the face. Remington UMC 115gr range ammo.
Ruger: 0 malfunctions of any kind.....
My Glock had already had about 300 rounds shot through it before today.
Ruger: 0 rounds fired through it, until today.
Verdict: Ruger won out for reliability.
Glock had a slightly better trigger (return felt slightly mushy on Ruger)
Ruger had nice ergonomics (slimmer grip, but same capacity)
Glock was more accurate (Ruger will be fine, but came from the factory with a sight that will need to be pushed left)
All in all, for $200 less...the Ruger won the battle today!
