    Kahr Reliability

I have a Kahr K-9 that I picked up for CCW a few months ago.

    It has been 100% reliable.

I will probably look at getting a CW40 at some point in the future as well.

My poll regards for those on this board that have purchased a new Kahr

in the past 3 years ONLY

If you have had problems, please post what they were

    Thanks for your input

4 Kahrs purchased in the past year, all well past the "break-in" period: no failures to fire, feed or eject. Occasional failure to lock open on empty mag on my P380 only (and this is due to operator error).

Used PM9 from a pawn shop that feeds everything with either the short or long mag.

Had two issues in the first 100 rounds with the slide locking open with rounds still in the mag with my PM9. I changed my grip and haven't had this happen since in 400 total rounds.

PM9 bought new, ~600 trouble free rounds through it now.

CW9 bought new 4 years ago - over 1000 rounds through it, no troubles at all.

K40 bought used from a friend, maybe 300 rounds through it, same deal - trouble free.

Oh, and I never use the slide release when loading.

The PM9 I bought a few months ago will not reliably feed from the 7-rd mag - nose down jams under the feed ramp. The consensus on the Kahrtalk forum was that the 7-rd mags are trouble, and to stick with the 6-rd ones. Kahr swapped the mags for me, but I have yet to test the new 6-rd mag. Kahr tech support claims that if you grip the extended mag too tightly, it can change the feed angle. Sounds bogus to me, but...

With the 6-rd mag that came with the pistol, I only had one issue early in the break-in (slide didn't lock open when empty). Just over 500 rounds so far. I guess I trust it to at least fire the 7 rounds that are in the gun...if I need more, I'm going to my BUG (LCP).

2 Kahr's in the last 3 months, CW9 for the wife and CW45 for myself. Between the 2 guns have shot 700-800 with no malfunctions.

Had a cw40.Alot of ftfeed and it wouldn't feed the first one if the mag was filled up.It was accurate and had awesome "feel in hand" concealed great, recoil wasn't bad.So i got a cw9(figured .40's inherently had more problems to feed with flat nose bullets).I was wrong. It worked fine but ,the slide was shaving off the plastic of the frame and when I shot a few clips, you could see plastic shavings on the ground.

Had a CW40, never could get it to run right. Kahr had it 3 times. Traded it off on a SIGp239.
