Talking Got to borrow the .44 mag :)

Pops let me borrow the .44 mag to take to the range tomorrow.. Its a Ruger RedHawk. I just took some pictures of it to share if anyone cares to take a look. Pictured is the .44 and a G27, and the Ammo I prefer to use for Self-Defense..(winchester Ranger T 180Grain), and a comparison of the .40cal 180grain vs the .44Mag which is also 180grain. He also has a longer barrelled .45 that i believe is a Colt. Its black with wooden handles i think. Ill borrow that one next.

I have never actually shot a .44 mag... after I shoot this one the only handgun caliber I have not shot will be a .50 cal. I dont think the recoil will be too terribly bad, as the gun is pretty hefty in weight. Tomorrow will be the day to find out.

With a 6" barrel or so the recoil want be too bad. Practice with .44special in it and carry .44mag. My 4" is ported and that tames it right down also. Have fun, don't let it bop you between the eyes.

My Ruger .44 mag is the long tube fella - great gun and cal. I think you will greatly enjoy shooting the Redhawk - shall we say - ''grin factor''

For more fun you should try some cranked up 45-70 loads thru a BFR if you can lay hands on one

Chris, yesterday when I was at the range. The owner of the range, Tim, Shot a .223 full auto, and a .44 cal almost IDENTICAL sights and everything to the one you pictured. Thats what made me think of Pops .44 Nice grips too. They look comfortable. What kind are they? I might buy my father some for his, even though he doesnt take it to the range very often at all, maybe he will with some new grips. The .44 is my fathers "carry" (and by carry I mean in his truck, he doesnt have a CWP)

And Holy mother of god.. What a beast at the bottom. I have never even heard of something like that. That bottom gun must correlate with some of BUD WHITES bullet photos. I was curious as to what all he has on that particular photo.. Bud?

Also Bud, you said you prefer a different .44 mag. Which one(s) ?

((Added)) Chris I just checked out the website for the BFRs.. sweeet 45LC/410. Not in the immediate future for me, but in the future. (grinning ear to ear)

After shooting a friends .44 mag Anaconda, and a Taurus .44 , I got a 7" barreled Ruger single action .44. Just something about a cowboy style gun made me want it. Looks like I have a new deer gun.

    I can agree rocky.

Bud, you said the recoil is tame. Do you still hold the same thoughts if i weighed (and i do) 155lbs? Just curious. Im still going to shoot it even if you say it will bruise my palms. lol.

Now unless you have hand loaded barn burners it will be stout if your not sued to magnums but not bad if there hot handloads all bets are off

    Nice looking .44 :)

I find that I'm growing more and more partial to S&W wheel guns. I picked up a 6" Model 29-2 a few weeks ago, and _man_ do I like that gun :)
