Just browsing around for good handgun prices, hunting rifle prices, etc.
Curious if any of you have ever purchased something from GunsAmerica.com? If so what kind of experience was it? Would you do it again? etc.

Never purchased anything through them, but I have sold through them a couple times. Pretty easy site to use.

Guns America...
I've used it to both buy & sell guns. Just bought a Kimber .22 conversion for 1911's last week there.
The only problem I had was when I bought a stock for an expensive shotgun from a guy. He said up front that it had been cracked but was professionally repaired...that was OK as I wanted it for a spare. When It arrived, it was in 2 pieces...it had never really been repaired at all. He had the nerve to ask me to help him blame UPS for breaking it so he could collect on the insurance.
I know lots of people who use it without problems. I wouldn't be afraid to use it if I were you.

I've used them 3 times to buy pistols. All transactons were quick and professsional. I voted "very satisfied".
I wouldn't hesitate to use them.

I've used GA to locate and purchase a handgun from a FFL within my home state and was satisfied with the outcome. I probably would not have been able to located this firearm if I had not uses GA. I voted "very satisifed" on the poll based on this experience.
While I still look at the firearms listed on Guns America on a regular basis... I would only do a face-to-face transfer or a transaction through a FFL dealer within my state.

I haven't---and these is my reasoning (for the most part)...
I have seem some great prices...but once you throw in shipping and FFL fees than you are just as well off buying from a local shop. Kind of the ebay thing....good prices and then you pay a crazy shipping fee.

I voted so-so, mainly because the prices are good-great, but the shipping/transfer almost negates any advantage in pricing.
It is good for locating rare/hard to find firearms.

I wish that's the case around here, but it's not. I bought an xd 40 sc with xml light for 529. shipped. Here the same gun without light cost 550. before taxes at the only place I found it. The place I use for ffl transfer charges 5.00 total for transfer so it cost me 534. total with light and it would have cost me over 600. with taxes for the gun without the 100.00 light. With light it would have been 100.00 more.
In other words it would have cost me over 700.00 locally what I got for 534. total including shipping and transfer buying out. Big difference.
That being said it was with gunbroker instead of gunsamerica, but I just got a taurus pt-145 through gunsamerica and it was quite a bit (at least 60.00 more plus tax locally) cheaper....if I were to wait until they ordered it in and there was no estimate on how long that would be.

While I have not used GunsAmerica, I have used GunBroker. Yes, the "average" transaction cannot touch a good shop's value, however there are some extraordinary values from time to time that cannot be touched in any other way. I've done a few transactions and was very satisfied with GunBroker.

I have used them twice: the first time was to purchase my HK P7 (PSP) from a gun dealer in CT. I actually contacted and informed the dealer of my intent to buy while on a plane waiting for the doors to close! I got it for $675 and, despite rough bluing, it's in excellent mechanical shape. It was a bargain for which I am very happy about.
My second purchase was for a NIB Taurus 905 CH blued 9mm revolver for $270. That's a great price considering those guns are difficult to come by now since they have been poor sellers and I believe, discontinued. I was happy with the purchase because I thought I was getting a hammered 905 only to open the box and discover it was a hammerless ("Concealed Hammer") version, which is what I wanted.
I guess like anything else, "buyer beware."

I was not aware of gunbroker, and went to check it out after reading some of the posts. Very interesting site which I think is set up better than gunsamerica. Shortly after checking it out I signed up for gunbroker, and a couple days ago I purchased a Ruger M77 30-06 Stainless steel/ synthetic stock. It was used, but in very good condition w/ shipping, and transfer cost about 450.00 total.
Here's a link to the item
