Picked up a Springfield 1911A1 Loaded used in excellent shape.

Well I finally bought my first 1911, I was looking for a Springfield and I happened to run across a used 1911A1 Parkarized with the
Tijicon night sights. The gun had about 50 rounds through and looked brand new, I had a chance to fire three magazines through it
before I bought it, It shot a small group at 12-15 yards, the group was about the size of a quarter. Very happy with the gun and will
take it to the range to shoot some more.

When I was cleaning it tonight the front site was loose and the pin was not in it, the front site has a hole in it and so does the slide, so I am guessing it was pinned because I do not see any threads. I will get a pin for it tomorrow. Anyone with any idea of what kind of pin to use would sure be a big help.

Good find on the Springer. I know you will enjoy it. I can't help you on the size or kind of pin to use though. Stay safe.

I would take the front sight and find a roll pin that fits it kinda loose and try the next size up,if it will kinda start with a little resistance that be the one you need, also make sure of the width,in all reality you could take the disassembled slide in and check length of pin as well

    Congratulations on your first 1911.

There should be a parts list in your owners manual, if you didn't get one, here's a PDF.

Everyone should try a 1911, I love my Glocks NOW, but I had three Kimbers...loved them.
    Congrats on your Springfield...sweeeeeeeeet!

Great gun, I have one myself. Don't know about the sight pin though, I don't think mine has one, at least I don't recall ever noticing one. I'll have to look tonight.

    Ohyeah - post some pics!!

I have the same model and mine did the same thing. I just sent it back to them and they repaired it and I had it back in no time. When I shipped it out, I got it back in about 12 days, including weekend days

Springfield has very good customer service. You may want to give them a call.

Great find. I have a Loaded Combat and it is a good 1911. By the way...I doubt this will be your only 1911. When the 1911 bug bites it bites HARD!

Congrats on a great find! A local pawn shop here has one that I've been keeping an eye on...shop owner is apparently very proud of it as he's asking $899 for it. The pistol is in great shape, but I can find one new online for about $100 or more less. I definitely think a Springer Loaded will be my next 1911.
