    xd 45 envy

So I went shooting with my father in law this morning. He hadn't shot his xd 45 in a while and was reaquanting himself with it while I was excercising the sig P220 SAO and the keltec pf 9. After a while I noticed he was having a bit of issue with his xd. Rounds where falling low and after he had fire his last round and attempted to pull the trigger not realizing the pistol was locked back I saw the muzzle dip noticably. I thought to myself, recoil anticipation, I'll let him shoot my sig. Now I figured steel and aluminum sig sauer would recoil less than the xd 45 based on weight. I explained to him what I waw thinking, respectfully, and he happily agreed and began shooting my sig. Well I was a little suprised after he finished the magazine because he told me the sig recoil was noticably stiffer. He handed me the XD 45 and my sig. I shot the sig then the XD and low and behold that XD recoil was significantly less than my beloved sig's. I loaded another mag in the xd and ran all 13 rounds rapid fire (and I mean fast rapid fire) all into a 3" circle at about 6 yards. I want one. It holds five more rounds per magazine and shoots better than my Sig. There is nothing worse than shooting someone else's pistol better than your own.

I know what you mean because I LOVE my XD's...ironically, I have been seriously considering getting myself my first Sig, either a 220(45) or a 229(40). I have a XD40 and an XD40sc, and just recently got a XD45 compact to replace my full size XD45 that a friend coaxed me into selling him. My XD45c sleeps next to me at night with a TRL-1 Streamlight. For me, it's hard shopping for anything while Springfield-Armory.com keeps intriguing me with talk of their new XDm...

I know that someday I will have to get myself a Sig. Personally, I think they make some of the prettiest polymer handguns in the world. I spend many an hour gazing at the 229 Elite and the various versions of the 220 on the internet and in gun cases at my favorite gun stores. Someday.

Funny, was just in my shop today asking about trading my .45 service towards a .45 compact vs. having a smith do a grip chop. I like the caliber in that platform, but the service grip is just too long for my taste.

Hmm I see you are in Texas...would a trade be a possibility?
