Used to have a lightweight Commander. I wish I hadn't sold it. I realize now that it was the best gun I've ever owned. Easy to carry, felt great to shoot, totally reliable, just a great gun. If you're comfortable with cocked-and-locked then it makes a perfect carry gun.

I popped the mag out a bit because you KNOW that you want to get a better look at that Ivory handled Combat Commander pistol complete with magazine decked out with Elephant Ivory Slam Pad.

Thanks folks. I love that C Commander!

I shipped a lot back home many moons ago when it was legal to do so.
I've since sold a lot on Ebay past few years & now just have some remaining for some future intended grips.

You had to give up the shrunken heads, but she let you keep all the ivory. At least she let you keep some of your trinkets.

I originally had 4 full tusks & then started cutting those up about 10 years ago.
Early last year I finished selling Ivory on Ebay & just saved some tusk sections of the best working Ivory for myself.

    QK,

This is kinda OT, but it is about ivory.

My B-I-L took a 50+ pounder 3 years ago and had a head mount done, they mount the real tucks separately to save weight and use fake tusks, anyway, even the fake tusks have a serial number engraved on them. I thought that kinda odd.

I've a Combat Commander from my Dad's collection . . . was new in box, satin nickel finish with dual safety. It's a dream weapon, perfect for conceal carry and being a Colt, excellent function and accuracy. Guess it helps that I've carried a Colt 1911 .45 for the past 25 years. As for magazines, I got stock mags from a reputable dealer, and they work just fine. Good price for a quality weapon . . . get it!

Yep, we are throwing this thread OT. That's OK we'll beg 4 some forgiveness.

Serial #ed fake tusks. New one on me.

He'll not be wanting to cut those up.

Prices for large matching pairs of display tusks are unreal these days.

Tell him not to display them one on each side of any working fireplace as is so common.
The intense dry heat is super bad for the ivory.
