I love the looks of the gun, and would certainly consider one. I had not even noticed the black MIM pieces on it until they were mentioned above.
I really like my Springfield micro compact, and really want a Colt 1911, but this Ruger is making think otherwise. I think it's a great looking gun, and Ruger hasn't made any really bad ones in a while. Well, other than convoluted steps you have to go through to break down and rebuild a Mark III anyway.
I'm in favor of gun control -- I think every citizen should have control of a gun.

I found one in a pawn shop a little over a month ago. I left with it for 450. I've put maybe 900-1000 rounds through it and only had 1 failure to go into battery. Which I blame of the brand new CM magazine. I've had several colts and I'd say it compares in every way. I love to shoot it and it's my ccw at the moment. I def recommend it
Unfortunately in MD this needs to be "approved" to be added to the handgun roster. Probably not available to us in Marylandstan until Sept-Oct.
This looks like a fine pistol to me. To you 1911 Gurus out there, the lack of the firing pin block, is that a problem as far as drop safety goes? Anyone know of any extensive drop testing done with the kind of setup ruger has? Light firing pin and heavy spring?
