I like the looks of this weapon, but really prefer 4" of barrel if I am going to carry a sixgun of this size. I do indeed have a 3" GP100, visible as my avatar at left, a rare adjustable-sight variant. The 3" .357 that I favor is the 3.06" SP101, a very well-balanced package, IMHO.

Great looking Ruger wheelgun. Yes they are built like a tank.

I really like the looks of the GP-100. The only thing that kept me from getting an SP-101 is the fact that it's only 5-shot. The GP, being six-shot, has just gone to the top of my list...
I wonder what happened... I used to be a auto-loader guy, but my last 3 purchases have all been wheel guns... As will my next one...

GP100
If you want a 7-shot, check it out in .327 Fed Mag. I love mine.
I also don't like rubber/wood grips. One or the other, please.

My two cents on this one.
Picked one of these up from galleryofguns.com recently. BTW, they still have 16 left att.
Good:
Ruger value, GP100 build and features, hawkeye ss finish, low mount Novak rear sight (would rather have night sights), combo grips, limited production.
Bad:
Price a tad high, fiber optic front sight (too fragile), weight a bit high for CC.
So, a couple of other observations: hard to see in the pictures in ads for the gun but the front of the cylinder is chamfered, I assume for holstering. Wonder if this compromises the strength of the GP? My choice for it's niche would be a wilderness/camp/backpack gun.
Overall, I'm pleased with mine, and if you collect wheelguns, get one while you can.

I just can't stand that thing!
If they're gonna have that big billboard warning, I suggest that they write something better on it.

Check out the sp101 on ruger website. I think the wood is a little lighter color. But they come in 6" I believe
