LEAVE THE TRIGGER ALONE!!!! Most Smiths come with a decent to great trigger. As someone mentioned, snap caps, and dry fire for a few months. 99% of the time it will smooth out. It may feel a little heavy right now... But after a few months of dry firing... I bet you get used to it just fine... Become master of the gun...

You got the snubby bug!!! You got the snubby bug!!! Never fatal (to you, at least. BGs, beware!), but has a tendacy to thin your wallet as you buy "just 1 more snubby..."!

    Congrats!!!

The only case that I have ever supported monkeying with the 642 trigger is if you (or the intended shooter) have a physical ailment that prevents them from shooting the gun accurately. A guy I know had to do this for his wife who has severe arthritis and was unable to fire it at all.

You'll love this gun! My uncle had one and I had my wife shoot it back when she was deadset against revolvers. The 642 now has her deadset against semi-autos. I, too, managed to find one without the internal lock. It's all around awesome, so enjoy!

That's a great gun and one might be in my future. I can't decide between the air weight and the Ruger SP101. I like the trigger better on the air weight.

Good choice to get the -1 variation and miss out on the wretched lock.

My wife has taken to the Model 642 kept around here more than I have. They can be handy little devils.

A 642-1 resides in my pocket as I read this. Mine was purchased before the lock B.S.

I love the 642! A great pocket pistol in a Nemesis holster. Mine does have the lock and I have had zero issues. This is one gun I will never part with. Congrats on the purchase!
