is for your thumb pad of your left hand (assuming you are right handed) and NOT your right thumb.

That would seem to be too far to the rear, but I shoot with a strong thumbs forward grip. My left thumb is/would be about where the takedown lever is at.

Springfield XD models have it too.

I'd have to see a pic of your grip to know what exactly you are placing there.

The first joint of my thumb rides there.

If your off hand thumb is riding over that part of the grip you have a very odd two handed grip.

I like Glocks, but I don't need their stinkin' indentation.

Turn the election's in 2014 to a "2A Revolution". It will serve as a 1994 refresher not to "infringe" on our Second Amendment. We know who they are now.........SEND 'EM HOME. Our success in this will be proportional to how hard we work to make it happen.

I am right handed. My right thumb rests on that indent perfectly. I tried to put my left thumb there, but it was too awkward. My left hand is normally very strong forward - to the point where my left thumb covers the left side of the trigger guard. There is no way I could force my left thumb to sit in the indent shown in the photo. That's me and my Glock anyway.

And per ZX9RCAM, my Glock has the indent on both sides - my thumb fits nicely on the left side, and my index finger fits the indent on the right side - and that leads the rest of my right hand onto the grip.

That would make for a very odd two-handed grip! I tried many ways of holding a Glock, to try to make Glocks work for me, but that was not one of the spots remotely considered for my off-hand thumb.

To see a truly good two-hand hold, that effectively mitigates recoil, see Travis Haley's presentation on that subject on the Magpul Dynamics DVD.
