To the O.P. You've made it to the top.
To what koolaid are you referring to. I don't understand your meaning.

Nothing wrong with the 229, I had no problems with mine at all. I sold it a while back, but only because I have so many 9mm guns that it was just destined to sit in the safe...

I carry a 226 in a M-tec and have no issues keeping it under cover.

Where did I mention glock? I have openly bashed glock for their gen 4. I own handguns from sa, colt, glock, amt, ruger, keltec, and h&r. I have owned sigs s&w taurus and many others. I also carry a wheel gun 90% of the time. I am starting to think that glock lives in your skull rent free.

My condolences for having to carry a heavy weapon with IMHO a crappy trigger. As a former sig owner I would rather be issued and xd a glock or an m&p. That is just me.

Some people are just Sig haters and some say the quality has gone downhill in the past few years but I just don't see it. This gun has a VERY proven track record and is in use by a ton of agencies and departments.

My guess is you will be getting it in 9mm and carrying it will NATO ball ammo. Very soft shooting out of this platform.

This particular P229 of mine is in .40 S&W and below is a pic of it as it sits in my safe. Had to swap the wood shoes out for some G10s.

Wish I owed one of those. I shot a range beater in .40 and it is one of the softest recoiling and accurate pistols I've shot in .40.

I love my Sig P229! Great gun! Just remember that they like to run heavily lubed... Militec is what I have read that Sig Recommends. Mine was bought used and is an early generation with no rail. It shoots smooth as silk & has XS Big Dot night sights on it. VERY easy to so follow up shots with it in 40 or 357 sig... Like it resets itself on target effortlessly. Top Notch service weapon!

The 229 is an awesome handgun. The weight is not that big of a deal seeing it is his service pistol. I like mine very much.

I love my Glock and Sig equally well for different reasons. The 239 is your answer like OPFOR said. I havent shot a Sig yet that wasnt an excellent shooter.

As stated in the first reply, the 229 is actually the "little brother" you refer to. Smaller in all ways versus the 226.

Yes there are smaller Sig handguns but maybe wait until they give you the 229 to see if you might just be comfortable carrying it as your off-duty piece. If its a BUG you're looking for than the aforementioned guns should be fine.

My usual conceal gun is usually my (9 MM) 239. Houge grips made it just about perfect!

Now someone mentioned trigger... I've never had any complaint about a SIG trigger, but as far as my "best" SIG trigger, it's the one on my SAO 220!!
