I really like my Charles Daly Hi-Power clone.
Only need to get some XS big dot night sights for it. The Daly clone came with Novak sight cuts which is really nice.

Your OP wasn't caliber specific though the thread is more or less based on the 9 platform. Para makes a sweet LDA but 45 only. It's designed for cocked and locked with a light DA on round one. All steel. I've got a 3" and it's a sweet heart. It's not a plinker though. After a few magazines I begin to feel the fatigue. Just a thought.
What if the Hokey Pokey IS what it's all about?

I have a Browning Hi Power, and three variations of the CZ 75.
The BHP is absolutely beautiful, wonderfully pointable, and fun to shoot. I bought mine 2nd hand, but a new one is around $1000.
My CZs have a very similar feel and pointability, but are around $600. For a similar feeling, accurate, higher capacity, all metal gun the difference in price is significant. Also, the CZ may be stronger as +P ammo isn't recommended for Hi Powers, but can be used in the CZ.
I love them both. I just think CZ are a terrific value.
