I think both are nice, reliable guns. I have the 226. I've shot the 19 a number of times since I was planning on getting one, but the grip is just a fraction too short for my hand, although the real problem may be the finger grooves. My hand always feels cramped after a range session with it.

Best Choices for Self Defense Ammunition
Well, I am becoming a hammer fan so that would probably be the Sig. Both are great guns and since they are a different manual of arms it is not a good comparison. Get what fits you best.
