Cool Time for a new .45

Well, I tearfully sold off one of my G23 pistols

But, that means I get to buy a new pistol

I want to stick with a .45 ACP. Budget is <$1K...

    Another 1911?

    Perhaps a Sig P220 SAO?

    Maybe an H&K...

    I would even consider a G30sf, or 21sf.

I don't care about capacity, or weight. The numero uno, primera cosa is reliablity.

    I don't want a small gun, but I do want a gun that's small-hand friendly.

So, do you guys wanna help me spend my money?

H&K offers either the USP or the HK45. I've handled the USP, and while it's big, I can get a good grip on it. The only drawbacks seem to be magazine cost, and lack of available holsters. I can deal with holsters; we've got a lot of talented holster makers on site that can remedy that

Haven't been able to locate the HK45 to handle it, locally.

I know that the Glock varieties have a very good accessory base, but I kinda want something different. And, they're not that friendly to small hands, even with the sf versions. But, I won't rule it out.

I found a Sig 220 combat at a LGS. It's not the model that I want, but it let me get a handle on it. Very impressed with it. The non-traditional slide release lever is well within reach for my short digits. It's thin like the 1911, and in single action mode I can get a better purchase on it than my current setups (PT1911 and G23).

I recently purchased one of Ruger’s new SR1911s, nice rock solid pistol.

    I rented an M&P 9; I wasn't impressed with the trigger

If I go with another 1911, it will either be Springfield or Colt

    Sig P220 SAO

I will say it again, in case you didn't get it the first time.

    Sig P220 SAO

It can be had for well under $1000. It is completely reliable and is dead accurate..

The Glock-30 for carry (I prefer the '36'), or the Glock-for HD.

If I wanted a Government I should get a Colt Series 70 replica, and if I wanted a Commander a blued 1991. The XSE Series are very nice guns too. The P220 is a nice pistol, but it cannot be compared to a 1911.

I trust my H&K USP-45 more than any other handguns that I own.

    I agree, Zacii.

I'm in the mood as well. I've got my eye on several on auctions and elsewhere.

Glock 21 gen 4. With no back straps installed it is better for smaller hands. The mag release, slide stop and new recoil spring make this gun a winner.

Btw the gen 4 issues have been a 9mm issue from what I read. My gen 4 have 500 rounds through it without a single hiccup.

I'm in the market for a 45 and the Glock 36 is at the top of the list followed by the FNP 45 (DA/SA).

HK45c. Seems to fit your needs perfectly. I too love the 1911 style pistol and the HK45c feels like a commander sized polymer with outstanding reliability. I highly recomend renting one before buying anything.
